Maybe, but I think he just wants to play. He's definitely a role player at this stage in his career. His tweet that he will be a steal , makes me think he knows he's not getting paid

Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens are looking to make comebacks.

Maybe we should kick the tires on those two washed up as....guys.

    Don’t want to offend.

    Safe places everyone.

I'm for signing any player that would help Sam and the team. If Dez came in for a workout and they deemed he was in good shape and would be productive, I would be completely behind the Jets signing him. That goes for Michael Crabtree, Damaryius Thomas, and Pierre Garcon too. Heck, even Jordy Nelson.

He would be great in the RZ. True, he could no longer get separation when he was the featured WR and dbl teamed on 60% of his routs. But in the RZ it's more about boxing defenders out and rebounding, something Dez is one of the best at.

We can bring him in to 'kick the tires' and have our docs check out his rehab process. Then, if we get injuries later in the season (September-ish) we can bring him in to fill in on a handful of RZ fade routes.

If he's on the team game 1, we own him the whole year's pay. Wait until we could use him, bring him in for 3 or 4 games, then cut him. If he really comes through over those few games, then cut someone else and keep him for the playoffs!

He was never really a burner but his physicality on contested catches is still there. Agree he would be a good RZ target. Especially for a team that has struggled in the RZ and settled for FGs more often than not

I'm heavily leaning towards no. If he would be willing to come on for cheap, which I assume he wouldn't, and understand his role was nothing more than maybe a Red Zone threat, I might be okay with it. However, he is a known Diva and would never agree to something like that and will probably be nothing more than a problematic headache.

Never mind the fact that he couldn't get separation BEFORE he tore his Achilles.

The dude was creating friction on a team with a young QB about the number of targets he was getting, and then when he got the targets he wanted he came down with a case of the alligator arms.

Also, his mom is a hooker.

I don't want Dez Bryant anywhere near this team.

Are we done shopping at Dollar General yet? Cmon guys... Dez Bryant? Crabtree, etc.... ? If these guys could still play, they would be playing. If we're looking to win the back page like in the not too distant past, yeah, sign one of these has beens. Otherwise, stand pat with what we have and continue to build around that with a solid OLine. Instead of a declining WR, why don't we get a Center and LT. Even if they're over 30, they could serve as stop gaps until Macc understands you do have to spend draft picks on the OLine or we get a GM that does.

Agreed! Hopefully Mac adds an OL or 2 before the draft. I don't mind signing a WR like Dez or Crabtree though to fill a specific need: Improving the red zone. I would go into that signing not expecting a #1 WR Dez or #1 WR Crabtree, but more of a #4 guy in a Terrelle Pryor-like role from last year. I am fine with standing pat too, just saying if Mac would sign one of those guys, I would support it.

I’m sure Mac is going to draft a center this year. LT will probably be at the top of the list next year as Beechum’s contract will be up. As will be a big WR....

People get excited about name recognition, and Dez doesn’t have any credibility at the moment as far as on field play. Kicking tires on guys is ok but there is a major reason not to kick his tires aside from that.

In my opinion, bringing OBJ on board would be a mistake because we don’t have a proven leader at QB. Give Darnold another 2 years and if he proves he is the absolute leader of the offense and can handle adversity, then we can bring in those kinds of guys on flyers. Otherwise they are a major risk to his development.
