That ain’t backup money, so it looks like we are rolling with a backup as our second starter.

Not necessarily true. Need to see guaranteed money.

It's looking like CB is going to be our glaring weak link.

I like Roberts, and we will have Jones competing.
I'd like to bring on a FA CB, but if that CB is a good slot corner, I could live with Roberts on one side.
Desir would be a better option though..

What we really need is Trumaine to live up some to that contract.

A better pass rush (which I hope we'll have) can help cover for shitty corners. Hopefully Trumaine Johnson has a fire lit under his balding cornrowed ass this offseason

Throughout last season we complained about Tru, Mo, and Skrine (almost went with Larry, Mo, and Curly), and how they all were getting beat, bad. And we also said at the time Roberts was playing better than any of them, and his playing time increased. This should be no surprise. Is he a #2 corner, probably not. But I’m comfortable with him as a #3, in hopes we find a better option down the road. Anybody have his PFF ratings?

I remember being impressed with his ability to cover at corner, but when they shifted him to safety, he looked subpar. That move by Bowles/Rodgers really baffled me.

Good resigning. Roberts was our best corner last year...not exactly sure where the disdain for him comes from. His contract is in line with his play. Skrine will be making more and he's a far worse player. If we can add a good slot corner, I'd be comfortable with where we sit at the position. Nickerson is developing and I'd be surprised if we don't take another corner to develop in the draft.

Give me Callahan...we still have the cash to get him...

I don’t exactly know why, but I really like Nickerson and think he could be a sleeper for us.

Roberts was more then fine at corner, it's when they moved him to FS where he was really bad. I'd like another corner in here but Roberts did well starting at CB

    Need to see the specifics.

Two things - guarantees, and backloaded or not. If it is not guaranteed, with more than half backloaded, it screams backup with 3rd year cut looming ahead.

This is only year two of the re-rebuild so I figured we won’t be able to totally fill every hole. That said, I would like us to bring in another cheap option to compete here. Or if the CS already sees him as the #2 corner then get us a slot corner.

Not sure I love the idea of Roberts as our #2 CB.

I think if the Jets had landed Anthony Barrf, they would have considered Greedy Williams. Gregg Williams was a part of the Browns decision to draft the CB from OSU last year at 4 overall.

When given a chance at corner Roberts has played well. I'm ok giving him a chance. I'd still bring in another guy or two to compete. I just hope Roberts doesn't celebrate like he won the Super Bowl after ever pass that goes incomplete towards him. I like his enthusiasm but bring it down a notch.

Don't like this. It's lose/lose. We're paying a backup starter money, or we're starting a backup. This year is whatever, next year is where it gets annoying.

Is it really starter money? Topflight CBs have been making over $10 million for years.

33rd in the league amongst CBs. That's the definition of starter money.
