The legal tampering period only applies to players who are about to be free agents, since Sitton was under contract but cut, they aren’t allowed to talk to him until it’s official. Even if they were having conversations before, they have to give it a little time or Miami could accuse them of tampering.
He has an established NFL pedigree. If he's fully recovered and has full range of motion and strength back in that rotator cuff then go for it. Glad Gase was on top of this one. Maybe he looked really good in camp/pre season for Miami and Gase filed it away in the memory bank. Any help we can get for Sam/Bell the better
Not sure what he was on top of. There's only been a hint from a reporter that Gase might at some point be interested in signing him.
If you've found any Schefty tweets that mention more than a vague allusion to Gase liking him, please share.
He spent most of his career on the right side not at LG. But he is getting old and has had injuries of late. Unless he's looking at a cheap deal, I'd pass
Not sure he'd be willing, but if he would sign on the cheap and could pass a physical with flying colors, I'd love him for depth. Seems like a lot to ask though.
Yeah. I don't see spending big on a guy nearing the end of his career coming off a major injury. Not with so many bigger needs. Maybe for a center as we don't really have anyone there.
Dude...you can't make threads with no source and just a blurb... You joined in 2010???? LOCKED Until something REAL gets reported. Found this: Fins release Sitton, who is likely to join Jets The Miami Dolphins continued their roster purge at the start of the league year Wednesday by releasing veteran guard Josh Sitton, the team announced. The move will save the Dolphins $5 million in cap space. Sitton is likely to wind up with the New York Jets, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter. There he would reunite with Jets coach Adam Gase, formerly of the Dolphins. Sitton, 32, signed a two-year, $13.5 million deal with the Dolphins last March with hopes of fortifying Miami's interior offensive line. Sitton's season ended shortly after it started when he tore his rotator cuff in Week 1 versus Tennessee. Sitton had surgery and was placed on injured reserve in September. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound veteran guard is a four-time Pro Bowler who has played 11 NFL seasons, including his first eight in Green Bay. The Dolphins will now have to find at least two new starters, and possibly more, on their offensive line. Right tackle Ja'Wuan James departed in free agency, landing a four-year, $51 million deal with the Denver Broncos.
Yes, and Gase supposedly really likes him. He was injured last year, but is still a good to very serviceable OG and can play C.
