Oh I understand what you said.

He sucks. We've been through this before with some of the other busts the Jets have drafted Sanchez, Richardson etc.

Same excuses the age, the scheme, the coaches, the supporting cast all the same just a diffetent player, different year.

Williams isn't going to magically turn into JJ Watt because of a new scheme.

    The Jets never learn.

Real players like Jamal Adams produce no matter what.

Leonard Williams tweet about someone coming here to get the double teams off him just shows this guy doesn't get it. What elite player in any team sport doesn't face double teams or get extra attention from opponents on a regular basis?

And I don't believe this guy is a player that needs to be double teamed. He doesn't wreck games, dominate. I've seen this guy get stonewalled by a single blocker.

I hear/read about all these double teams that poor Leo faces on a regular basis it all comes off as tall tales to me. LOL

    He ain't that good.

He is on the last year of his contract. The money that they are paying him this year is to undoubtedly figure out how he fits with the Jets moving forward.

It might be slightly above what he is worth, but that is how the 5th year option works. It gives the team time to assess the player further to determine if they are worth a long term commitment. It is a major advantage to the team to have that option on the table. Rather than said player needing to be tagged, resigned, or let go. For the player, it benefits them because they are no longer being paid like a rookie.

All in all, I still think you are way too critical of Leo. He isn't a bust and that is the picture you are trying to paint. I don't think anyone is claiming that he is a great player, but he is pretty darn good and is only 24 years old. It isn't wise to let someone like that go.

But what about his signature haircut?

We care about his hair now? I thought we only loved his fat, jolly appearance/demeanor? I can't keep track.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so insane.

    And serious.

Oh no, the haircut is a big part of the problem. It’s a signature haircut designed to make him recognizable and marketable.
Robbie’s haircut however isn’t a problem, so I am not quite sure where the line is.

Let’s keep it real he’s been a huge disappointment for a high first rounder and this is his make or break year. If Bowles was still the coach I might agree with dumping him. But with intensity of our new defensive coach, I am hoping he can bring out the ibest if him and utilize his speed. We just don’t have enough good players on the defensive line to get rid of someone picked so high who’s 24 years old. Some players take longer and that’s my hope. But yes, he’s been a major disappointment and I don’t want to hear about double teams. Get the job done kid

This isn't the Williams bashing thread. Please take the childish bashing of Leo to the Fat thread.

It is pretty lame that Leonard Williams captioned the photo that way. It just shows that excuses are always on his mind, even for something as silly as that. Leonard Williams is not a winner

    So it's confirmed, 3-4 remains.

They will more-so be multiple, so players will move around more.

    Good.
It's a better D to stop the run, it's a better D to get creative with, to morph into multiple fronts, and to ultimately confuse QB's when done correctly.
Our best D's in team history were under Parcells/Belichick and under Rex, running the 3-4.

Plus not unnecessarily switching fronts allows us to retain players who might not have fit otherwise, so we can focus more efforts on Offense.

I agree we will see multiple fronts, and play in subpackages over 50% of the time.

  14. Rumor is Niners have interest in Fowler & other FA edges. W Thomas already at one OLB spot,if they sign a premium edge in FA that could have them leaning toward Quinnon or trading out.

Yup... this probably takes Quennen Williams away as an option as well especially considering how highly Gase spoke of Leonard today.

Just hope they don’t realize that Fowler doesn’t solve your need at edge

Been hoping for that since before the season ended.
He'd be a great addition to the team.

God I hope the 49ers overpay Fowler. Jets signing him would be a nightmare. Please go make Robert Quinn take a physical as he's going to be cut soon.

  19. Im not apart of the Fowler hater club.I understand that perspective i just dont agree w it.

That said id love for him to go to San fran bc it likely means Allen falling to #3.

Robert Quinn would be great but can he stand up in a 34?

Fowler rarely wins 1 on 1 matchups, personally I think Copeland had a better season then Fowler. We should be retaining Copeland instead.

Quinn had 8 sacks in Wade's 3-4 in 2017 with the Rams.
