I was just on jetsinsider.com and someone made a post saying Chris Berman is now calling Jerricho Cotchery "The Mayor" (after 1980's New York City Mayor Ed Kotch). This was MY IDEA. I posted this notion/idea about a month ago on jetsinsider.com. How Awesome. I've heard that beat writters and sports media personalities sometimes tap into boards like this one/jetsinsider.com etc... to get some of their material. Anyway lets hope my idea catches on and in time "The Mayor" goes nationwide like "the Freak" or "the Bus".
Today, I was in a Dillard's. It reminded me of the time when Berman said Coles went shopping for (x amount of) yards on a play.
i saw that today, he says it during his 2 minute drill, he says jet fans have been asking him to say it, i like the nickname, someone on this site called him that before
I like The Jericho Turnpike better. It keeps a little bit of long island with the jets. Plus it was my idea.
No He didn't.. Stop it... Stop it Right Now!! I hate when that happens though because no one ever believes you..
Having nothing to do with his performance on the air (personally I'm okay with it, but I can understand if others aren't), I am friends with someone very high up in the hierarchy at ESPN, and they tell me that Berman is one of the nicest, most genuine, people there - not at all full of himself the way others are. He also is incredibly giving of his time to just about anyone who asks. Hey, that's no reason to like the way the guy does his job on the air, but I thought I would throw it out there.
I'd agree 100%. I spent 6 months ona consulting assignment up there in 1996 and he was very nice to me.
What are you talking about? Berman jumped the shark so long ago that when he turns around he can't even see the shark any more. He is so f-ing annoying. His MLB coverage is the worst tho.
