Equal ground. The only thing they're doing in the Meadowlands is building their practice facility on the north side of the present stadium, a location which is horrid, IMO. It'll hardly be scenic by any stretch of the imagination, there's never any shelter from the wind, the annoying ragweed and pollen blow in your eyes and face constantly, the area is insect-infested because of all the water in the swamp and the drone of 18-wheelers is incessant. The Jets' location in Florham Park will be a much nicer, serene, classy location.

As far as the other stuff (restaurants, etc.,) that's alll outside stuff and 50-50 as far as team recognition (Jets themes, Giants themes).

thanks junc and 227.......but if the restaurants and all that shit are equal how come the giants are building them? the article made it sound like theyr footing the bill so how do we get equal recognition and monies?

But Junc, this is hardly "the better end of the deal" for reasons stated above. True, it's what the Giants wanted, but only because they're the Giants and being the Giants, they probably thought this was a way to have a leg up on the Jets. When it's finished, however, anyone looking at both facilities is going to come away knowing the jets got the better end of tht deal. The state is giving us 20+ acres of prime woodland. The facility will have the same collegiate, campus-like feel to it that Hofstra has (only much better), while the Giants facility will resemble a truck-stop for 18-wheelers along the New Jersey Turnpike.

It's just the location, you'd rather be next to the Stadium but I agree we'll have the better facility but they have the better location.

I can't find that in the article, jonny. It says, "The Giants plan to build a 20-acre training facility in the southwest corner of the development, along with parking areas and tailgating zones. Broadcast facilities, sports medicine clinics, stores, restaurants and a New Jersey Transit rail spur also are part of the project."

The second sentence just mentions the rest of the stuff in the Meadowlands. As far as I know, the Jets share equally in any of the name-recognition stuff, like, there's supposed to be an individual Jets restaurant with all kinds of memorabilia and an individual Giants one too. I think there's also going to be separate Jets stores and Giants stores.

Well, I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but in this case, being immediately next door to this stadium is not a very good location, IMO. And many other cities around the country have a similar situation. You wouldn't want a training facility right next to some of the blighted slums you have in other major urban areas, for example.

The Giants wanted their TC right next door to the stadium and settled for the area to the north instead of taking something really nice a short distance away... a really stupid, hard-headed decision, IMO.

Winter in the Meadowlands is a constant 40mph west wind with a wind-chill that subtracts 15 degrees from whatever it is elsewhere in NJ. The sound of traffic is all you hear unless you're fortunate enough to have a jet taking off out of Newark Airport to break up the drone of the 18-wheelers. Summertime is just the opposite. Hot west wind carrying insects, punk pollen and ragweed that literally makes you cough as it goes down the windpipe.

I'll gladly trade the Jets having to take a short bus ride to the stadium on gameday for the beautiful, tree-lined, shaded areas of what will be their college-like campus. I'm really looking forward to going to TC there.

    84,000 seats!

Man, I still can't get over that. That's 7,000 more than we have now, or a 9% increase. That's 7,000 seats on the Jets waiting list that are going to get to go to games now. That's got to make some fans on the list really happy!

i wouldn't make that automatic assumption.......I'm sure there's going to be a lot of favors to be paid to politicians, contractors, corporations etc....I bet not all 84k go to fans....sadly

but yeah a good chunk of waiting list people should benefit hopefully

I hear you (as far as the favors), but if there's too much of that (and it wouldn't take much to do the math), I'd like to be a partner in the law firm that gets to handle the Class Action suit against the Jet and Giants.

Fans have been shelling out $50 a year to be on that waiting list and have every right to expect that their money was held in escrow, in good faith and pursuant to the original intent of the agreement. In effect, that has been a contract between the fans and the teams which, in return for the fans having given them a good-faith deposit and earnest money to hold their place in line, basically entitiles them to the next seats when they become available, and on a first-come, first served basis as promised, not behind some jackass councilman from Rutherford or some cohort of Corzine's who they allowed in line.

So no, I disagree from that standpoint. I think these people on the waiting lists have every right to a PUBLIC accounting of where each and every newly-acquired seat has gone, otherwise the whole thing has been a money-making sham and the teams have basically defrauded those on the lists.

Damn straight. Jets fans on the list need to keep on top of this and make sure they don't get screwed. If they're like, 6,999 on the list, they need to contact the FO and ask them where their tickets are.

Wouldn't you like to have some sort of home-field advantage and have the winds and possible snow late in December?
