I have zero interest in Dan Campbell. He's a position coach who wasn't successful as Miami's interim HC.
I thought it was announced that he was returning to Iowa State. I'd love to have him be the next HC if he's available and both Harbaughs aren't.
I'm not crazy about him as HC. He's run heavy and has a 500 record in a confrence known for weak Defense. I also wonder about his ability to assemble a quality staff. Darnold's development has to be the teams priority with the next hire. I don't see Campbell as that guy.
He's already on the street, had a great QB before that he groomed. He's offensive minded and most importantly a Super Bowl win. Now if they drag their feet waiting on coaches to finish the playoffs or the college bowl season that could be risky. They might stay or turn down the Jets. McCarthy might also but he should be the first target and interview.
Which coaches would we be waiting for? Jim Harbaugh's season is over, we can talk to him now. And if John makes the playoffs he isn't going anywhere. Simple solution is to fire Bowles after the game, get Jim on the phone, and ask him if he's interested. If yes, hire him. Otherwise get McCarthy in for an interview ASAP and hire him. Finally if the Ravens lose, ask them if they'd be interested in a trade (they still have John under contract so they'll extract compensation even if they plan to move on). So simple even a Johnson can do it.
Not getting along with the franchise QB is to me a red flag. Playing horrendous defense is to me another red flag. A tiger doesn't change it's stripes. The Jets can do better.
They drafted rivers because they thought his shoulder would never be the same. Huge mistake by their medical staff. Carmichael is nothing but a yes man for Drew and Peyton
