Let's go with Pete Carmichael, who at age 47, is still relatively young. In the mid 90's, the Jets hired another Pete C as HC, who was also a young OC. Carroll was dismissed after one 6-10 season, and later went on to have playoff and Super Bowl success with Seattle. After ten solid seasons in New Orleans as OC, maybe the Jets have learned their lesson and will not allow this Pete C to slip through their hands. However, knowing that this franchise has no cojones, they will throw big money at either of the Harbaughs instead, who would only be coming to the Jets for a retirement nugget.
The answer is David Shaw...his Stanford teams have always played hard on both lines, smart, run the ball well and he can coach QBs. Don’t know if he’ll leave there but he’s deserving of a pro gig
I guess i just don't see what y'all see in McCarthy. Don't think he'd be a good option for us but whatever.
What if the Steelers scrap Tomlin? I think he’s been a good coach. The fact that they shit out new star WRs and RBs every year speaks well of his player development and coaching.
My concerns with Tomlin are what OC he brings in and whether he has the desire and ability to boss Mac around. But he's a terrific coach and 100% worth an interview.
@Brook! Can we start a new poll while keeping the posts in the thread? Same rules as before: you can choose up to 3 candidates, votes can be changed, and votes are publicly displayed. I'm thinking the choices should be: Jim Caldwell (former Lions HC) Pete Carmichael (Saints OC) Jim Harbaugh (Michigan) Matt LaFleur (Titans OC) Mike McCarthy (former Packers HC) Lincoln Riley (Oklahoma) Mike Shanahan (former Redskins HC) David Shaw (Stanford) Dave Toub (Chiefs ST) Other (indicate who)
My vote is still on Jim Harbaugh. He's my #1 option. Failing that I want Ron Rivera. I don't want Tomlin or McCarthy or LOL Jim Caldwell.
Head coach big board 1.Jim Harbaugh 2. Mike Mccarthy 2B Mike Tomlin if available 3. Pete Carmichael 4. Dave Shaw 5. Mike Shanahan
LOL the NY Post says the Jets are prepared to make Jim Harbaugh "offer he can't refuse". Awesome news to see. It's like a Christmas present. If he's not coming it should end very quickly if not
I think that's more of a organizational thing than a Tomlin thing. I don't look at him as a elite head coach. I know Terry Bradshaw isn't a fan of his.
