Bowles has to go. Most believe that. But how has Maccagnan escaped the wrath of the Jet fans and media. Our talent level stinks. His drafts have been horrible. Great trade up for Sam, but We have: 1. Shit receivers 2. Horrible offensive line 3. Shit running backs 4. Shit defensive line 5. No pass rusher 6. Shit linebackers except Avery Based on his drafts, we will have no chance to succeed no matter who coaches unless the talent level and scouting is totally flipped. They both need to go
That's what happens when you have a defensive coach and wants defense. Mac has not addressed the oline at all in the draft. WR he has and everyone of them is out of the league. Dline he has and Shephard has regressed and we;ve had the best dline but on one is here because dlines don't win championships. No edge rushers. LBs are awful. Secondary ok but the nickel back is awful and they won't play the rookie or some other dbs we have. they must be awful too. Mac's draft have been really bad. The coaching staff hasn't coached them up. Like you said he needs to go too but they say he won't.
I shall earmark this under the TGG folder named unnecessary, repetitive, way over stated and highly inaccurate.
Bowles has no authority to tell Mac who to draft. I also disagree with the premise. The two best Head Coaches in the league right now are BB and maybe Tomlinson. They both came up through the ranks on defense. I suspect they may have actually watched tape of NFL offenses at some point.
It is not only his drafts--he is, quite frankly, a poor judge of talent. His three biggest resigns (Wilkerson, Fitzpatrick, and Revis (especially)) were a huge waste of a LOT of $$$$. His signings from other teams (T. Johnson, Long, Beachump) have been a huge waste of money. He has HAD four years--The jets were 4-12 the season before MacCagnan, and will likely finish 3-13 or 4-12 AT BEST this year (four years later). It is so strange to me that there is any argument or issue about getting rid of MacCagnan. I said the same thing about both Bowles and MacCagnan same time last year (after the consecutive 5-11 seasons) and the owner gave them both 2 years extensions. So unusual that people want Maccagnan back so he can WASTE high round picks and totally ignore his pathetic offense and offensive line. People gives Bates so much grief that the offense is stuck in neutral--Well, you can't make an atom bomb without uranium.
Little do you guys know but MM needs his Jets job to complete his Online course "How to be a Football GM" from University of Phoenix Out of the generosity of their hearts Woody and Chris paid for the course so no way he leaves now..so what if we are losers, this is for the sake of higher education!
Biggest problem is that we spent 4 high 1st rounders on defensive ends (Mo, Richardson, Couples, and Williams) and only one of them is on the roster and is an okay player. We’ve failed to draft well in the middle rounds for the most part. That’s why we’re in this mess. I like Macagnans trades and that’s about it. His FA signings have been bad and his drafts have been average to below average. I was pro Macagnan up until recently, but I no longer see where he is taking this franchise. At the end of the day we simply aren’t getting better enough to make progress.
Have you not been on the board for a while? The bolded bits have several threads knocking about or mixed in with general complaining threads.
Exactly-- there is no problem with hiring a former Defensive Coordinator as the Head Coach, as long as he's willing to actually be a Head Coach, unlike the guys the Jets have been hiring for the last few decades.
At this point, Macc's negatives far outweigh his positives. It's one thing if there was one or two big holes to fill, but there are holes throughout the roster. Can't have that many roster deficiencies after 4 years. Time for a new GM.
