Dewyane made ferguson alot of money, dewayne ahs returned to being a top DT while ferg has disappeared since signing w/ Dallas.
I could buy that they complemented each other....but not that Drob made him. I'd attribute Ferguson's lack of production in Dallas to the type of defense and expectations they have of him, and the fact that he was 30, with 8 years in the league, when Dallas signed him. While he was at his peak in 2002-2004 he is clearly on the downside of his career.
Ferg was invisible from 2000-2003, in '04 Dewayne emerged as a force and coincidentally ferg had a very good year. dewayne was hurt last year and struggled but he has regained his form, ferg hasn't done a thing since leaving. i watched that game yesterday and didn't hear ferg's name mentioned once.
We had a much better pair of running backs, a stronger and more experienced OL, and a stronger front 7 in 2004, and everyone knows that you need to run and stop the run come December and January. 2004 by a small margin, but give any coaching staff other then Herm/Hackett and the '04 team would have been amazing.
if they played each other, 2006 wins, obviously, because of coaching but talentwise, i think 2004 imagine how good this offense would be with a healthy, 2004 form curtis martin...crazy good
2000 New York Jets 15 46 35. 0 11 1 2001 New York Jets 0 0 0.0 0 0 0 2002 New York Jets 16 63 42. 0 21 3 2003 New York Jets 16 75 52. 0 23 4.5 2004 New York Jets 16 58 36. 0 22 3.5 JUNC you're usually pretty well informed but you're just spewing nonsense here. Ferg was hurt and missed all 2001, in 2002 had a comparable year (more tackles, 1/2 less sack) to 2004, and his best year in 2003. In 2004 his stats were nearly identical to 2002.
You can't just use stats. We were atrovciuous against the run the first half of '02 and all of '03 so teams ran the ball a million times on us so his tackle #s were up. He was a force in 2004, he wasn't in 2003 even though his #s look better. We faced 110 more rushing attempts in 2003 than 2004 and 115 more attempts in 2002 than 2004. The #s are inflated b/c of that. Ferg was great for us from '97 until he was suspended in '99 then he slacked off/was hurt for a few years and in 2004 he stepped up and played like he did his first few years.
2004 hands down... we had the number 1 rusher in the league , we still had moss, not to mention our defense was nasty too
I think the 2006 coaching staff would have a gameplan that the 2004 staff would have never expected. The 2006 staff would know exactly what the 2004 staff was going to do, but the 2004 staff would have no idea. Score? 2006 17, 2004 3. Now if the 2006 staff and 2004 staff changed teams, 2004: 20, 2006: 3 See my point?
Disagree. I do not see a Herman Edwards-Paul Hiccup team beating the Pats in NE in a League Championship game. They rarely beatr them during regular season. 2004 had more talent, but they did not have the intelligence of this team.
One more draft like last year's and the Jets will be back at 2004 talent level with the superior coaching staff.
We did go into NE on a Sunday Night and whip the pats in 2002 which was the reason we won the div and NE didn't and you never know what could happen. We probably would ahve lost but in '85 no one gave NE a shot at Miami as they hadn't won at Miami in about 20 games yet NE knocked them off in the title game- you never know. Remember Herm was 2-2 against NE in his first 4 games against them.
That's the last year NE wasn't a playoff team. Beating NE in 02 when they in fact weren't a very good team proves what?
If Ne won that game they would have won the division and been a playoff team, they weren't a playoff team b/c we beat them in Week 16.
That Patroit team was very much like this years Steelers, hung over from their first SB. That team had a 4 game lossing streak and should have lost it's last 3 games except for the fact that Dave Wanstadt was dumber than Herm.
It's a little different from Pitt, NE did get off to a 3-0 start and beat us 44-7 during that 3 game stretch. The bottom line is if they beat us that December night they would have been 10-6 and won the division and beaten Indy the next week and lost at oakland just like us.
The bottom line they were a 9 & 7 team that year and didn't make the playoffs so we beat a none playoff team. The other fact is that year in a 16 team confrence there were 9 teams that finished 9 & 7 or better. 9 & 7 in 02 was at best mediocre. We beat a mediocre team and were a mediocre team.
