Pittsburgh took them for granted the first game and payed the price. Pens were a little more conservative and Isles hung around and made good on their opportunities. Isles are in first place in their division. It may be only time this season so I had to mention it.
Didn’t see the game; was at Dallas Fort Worth International and did get to see pajama boy show his value as he carries the Leafs without Mathews.
I love how the media and other teams fans still shit on us though. Constant whining about losing to a team "like the Islanders" yep, sure does suck to lose to a first place team getting good goal tending. We are playing such a solid game in all three zones. Sure guys make mistakes, but over all its night and day from last year. The decision to load up on vets for the third and fourth line really look good right now. Holy hell we may have an actual NHL team again instead of being the farm system that exists for other teams while still in the NHL.
Isles complete the five game division sweep with a 3-0 win over the Devils! Nobody had that a week and a half ago!
Great game by Greiss; fantastic 6-4 PK to end the game. Probably could have had another goal or two earlier in the game but it’s nice to see the team rise to the challenge of a 1-0 lead.
They are playing solid hockey right now and the goalies have been great. Griess with breakaway stops on Crosby and Hall in the last two games. We look sounds defensively for the most part and getting timely scoring. Brock Nelson even forgot October was over and chipped in a goal tonight. Its been a fun ride so far this year ... Pens losing 3-0 right now so first in the metro is in the bag for the night. Loving the Trotz effect.
We need Woody and Chris to pay attention to the Isles and take note of what happens when you bring in real management and coaches. If the Johnson’s owned the Isles Doug Weight would have gotten a two year extension and Trotz would have the Rangers in first place.
And now for some good Ho-Sang news... https://eyesonisles.com/2018/11/04/new-york-islanders-josh-ho-sang-fire-since-promotion/
It’s probably going to allow them to get more in a trade for him. I don’t believe they are rewarding a player who was calling them out for what he deemed unfair treatment. The fan in me is hoping this is him showing some signs of maturity, and realizing that his pouting is not the way to handle these type of disagreements. I would love for him to remain an Islander and become that second skilled playmaker Islanders need to take it to the next level.
Got pulled into a meeting at 2-1 and was just hoping it would still be that when I wrapped it up. Great start against a really good team.
J.Drouin for the Canadiens looks like he’s a threat to score every time he’s on the ice. I’m getting a bad feeling about this one, Habs are skating, Isles look like they are a step behind. Not getting SOG, I hope they don’t go into a shell.
15 SOG, and they are being dominated, this was the team I remember seeing last year. Leads would disappear as they allowed other teams to dominate them in their defensive zone. Beauvillier has been struggling a lot so far, can’t make anything happen, even strength or on PP.
