I heard a crazy stat yesterday,,,,,,Jets are currently 7 1/2 point dogs but VEGAS says IF Mccown was under center we are 3 point dogs !!!!! Sounds crazy but they are saying Darnold makes us 4 1 / 2 point MORE dogs ,,,crazy huh ?

I've already given up on Bowles, but I don't think the organization has quite yet. But they're starting to sour on him as the rumors have stated. Since beating the Patriots in week 16 of 2015 he's been a putrid 11-25. Probably should've been fired after the embarrassing 2016 campaign when he lost the team, locker room, and all semblance of control.

The same problems have persisted. Over and over, Discipline, Preparedness. Finishing games. Making adjustments. Situational football. Clock management. Being too conservative at the wrong time.

But if there was ever time for a true turning point this is it. We've had extra time to prepare. We get Maye and Martin back. We're coming off a brutal and humiliating loss. There is no excuse for them not to come out extremely prepared and angry. But if we gag it up again then forget it. 1-3 we won't recover from. It'll be a 4-12/5-11 type season

Our defense is a good one. Not great but we really should be able to hold the Jags offense in check. Darnold will have his work cut out for him against a D of that caliber. I just hope he avoids the turnovers and makes a few plays. We'll need major contributions from special teams and hopefully create some turnovers of our own

It's just a feeling that tomorrow either springboards us or totally finishes the Bowles era

Very nice post. Agree completely. Our defense is a good one, but not put in a position to succeed. The bold is key. We can not have a great half only to be out schemed and outplayed in the second half as it is now typical. If that is the case, Bowles and Kacey hopefully will not see the end of this season.

It's game day here, so my tea this morning will be drunk from my Jets mug, my dog had his Jets collar on, and later during the game I'll be drinking whisky from my Jets shot glass. Not sure which jersey to wear... might go Mangold.

Here's to less stupid penalties and allowing Darnold to let it go a bit. It could be fun... could be...

Defense has been playing well, save for some missed opportunities. I think this game will depend on which Bortles and which Sam we get. Give Sam time and at least an NFL caliber gameplan. Force Bortles to be bad Bortles.

If the Jets lose today this will begin to feel like one of the most disappointing seasons ever for many reasons especially if Miami & Buffalo win today.

Williams jersey on, beer torps on ice, watching the Ryder Cup to pass the time.

Cough syrup and Mountain Dew purchased in case it’s a shutout loss.

RB28,,,,,heres the funny part = It really should not feel that way if they lose because expectations were supposedly low . The thing is that the first game against the Lions raised the expectations of many fans and I think it even raised the expectations of the organization . They can talk all they want about rebuilding but the Jets do NOT KNOW how to do a rebuild the right way they are all about selling tickets and the money. That is why they were in on Mack and that is why they are inquiring now about Bell. Also that is why they did not let Darnold sit an wait = it was always about selling tickets !

For me, it depends on how we lose. If we lose 28-31. Lets say that Darnold throws for 300+ yards, 2TDs, 2INTs, or better, shows better command of the offense, hits those mid-range throws, scrambles, hits a receiver deep, and isn't injured. Then a loss doesn't bother me as much. It fits in with the 2019 Preseason narrative and goals. However, if Darnold's production mirrors last week, then the Jets are definitely in trouble and the loss would be very bothersome.

DVR on. Can't watch this game.

Sunny day got to take advantage and do the outdoor chores, close the pool, put the outdoor furniture away.

If they win I will happily watch the recorded game tonight, eat tailgate food, and drink a bunch of Heinekens.

    Otherwise it is sunny...

I don't think past results have any bearing on what happens today

The Jets are not very well equipped to do anything against this Jaguars defense. We can bottle up their O to an extent. But this game has 19-6 Jets loss written all over it

That's what I heard last year. We shall see if you're finally right for a change. "Good luck" with your "bold" prediction. :D

    True, so true.

It's not just the Detroit game it's that Darnold hasn't impressed at all since week 1. There was such a euphoria about this team, Darnold after week 1 then they laid a egg in week 2 at home okay it can happen but for them to go out and not only lose to Cleveland but lose the way they did with Cleveland's rookie QB taking over the game, blowing a 14-0 lead then a 17-14 lead just disgusting.

To lose today would feel like the season is about to spin out of control.

If Buffalo wins again by beating Green Bay with their rookie QB, Miami goes 4-0 by beating NE that would compound the disappointment I'd feel following that week 1 win.:(

A win changes everything but I'm not feeling it'll happen.

Still I'll be watching & hoping it does.

Darnold played better week 2 than he did week 1

    You're right.

That pick he threw in the endzone right after the D forced a turnover to set up a easy score and those whopping 12 points scored by the O were much better than anything he did against Detroit.

Pryor quit on that route. It was a fine decision by Darnold.

The defense and special teams both scored touchdowns week 1. They also set him up with countless short fields.

He was facing long fields all day week 2, Robby fumbled, Herndon and Pryor had bad drops, the o line was overwhelmed, run game as nonexistent.

He got carried to a win week 1 and was almost good enough to carry us to a win week 2.

QB performance is not all about wins and losses.
