#6 overall pick with 2 sacks in his last 24 games, 2 of 3 games with no tackle at all this year. Yes, fans have a right to bitch. Don’t sound surprised.

12 sacks 92 tackles and 92 assists in first 3 years of a 34 de is pretty damn good production from someone whos job consists of sucking up linemen so linebackers can get to the ball. So no they dont have a right to bitch.

He also has 5 solo tackle's and 1 assist this year

I think this has a lot to do with it. Get a true edge rusher and he has more space to move. That being said, for where he was drafted, he needs to make much more of an impact.

  8. Leo’s a very good player in an awful scheme for DL production.Between he,Wilkerson, richardson, snacks there has been elite talent & absolutely none of them have produced big plays consistently.

At this point i think the jets should re allocate resources away from the DL & take a similar approach to Parcells;Just get solid anchors who fit the scheme, can be counted on to stay healthy & most importantly maintain an affordable salary.

Id trade Williams as the corresponding move to that change in philosophy before his contract is up.He’ll land a 3rd likely even better. Sheppard & Anderson will be adequate.

If we’re gonna pay at DL big $ it should be at Nose.

I am split on this Leo thing..

Lots of good points here made by jdot and those seeing his "production" as meh

True to my argument about the present team . The CS has put him out of position plus we have no real edge Rusher

BUT first rounders HAVE to be impact players in my book..and while I've seen more hustle out of him of late it vaporizes the following game

So long Leo..with our luck he will go to a contender like lazy Mo to GB (sorry Biggs there's that word again) and beast it up there

To be safe...by lazy I mean>>>>>>>>unproductive game to game

He's a valuable part of the defense. And impact player for sure, but not an elite defensive impact player like say Mack, or a prime Revis or prime Polamalu. He has a good motor (Cleveland I think he was just gassed, 3rd game in 11 and a hot day) He's a run stuffer, he applies pressure to the QB, and he disrupts things

Elite he is not. But he's pretty low on the list of issues with this team

It's hard to determine anyone's worth under Bowles.

Yeah and that 3rd round pick will prob turn out to be a player we can keep for the next 10 seasons also. Great idea to trade a player that can play his whole career here for someone that will be off the roster in 3-4 years.

OR on the other hand, we could just get a god damn pass rusher for the edge and have a great front 7 again. hmmmm blow it up or make it better......

Which by the way would also allow Williams to focus on his damn job of being an interior lineman and stuffing the run while sucking up a tackle guard combo instead of trying to push the pocket like he has to now.

I'm no football savant, but I have to ask: If our LB's are the weak link on defense, why are we still a primarily 3/4 team? We have quality on the DLine so wouldn't it be logical to play more 4/3?

    just wondering...

Leo is 24. I think he has been pretty good on a terrible team the last couple years. Not sure what else he could do to impress fans. I'd rather sign him, than let him walk. Never know how good he will be with the next Head Coach.

3-4/4-3 we're still missing the same piece, edge rusher, and in a 4-3 not sure we have the mlb that can go sideline to sideline making plays

He needs a fire lit under his ass. He is way too comfortable.

I saw a player content with engaging and eating up the blocker. That’s not what he is there for. That’s what McClendon is there for. Williams, you expect a lot more

Are there DCs who are well versed in both 3-4 and 4-3, or do they typically specialise in only one of them? We always seem primed to shift to a 4-3 based on personnel, but never do.

  20. Its not worth allocating funds to a player who plays a position that is simply non impactful in this defense. The 3rd rounder is not the solution but rather getting compensation for a player that isnt worth utilizing premium salary given the role & the system.

To your point,Id rather use those funds & theoretically higher draft picks on LBs including edge than on DL that are only pocket pushers & block occupiers in this defense.

You wanna say change to a different scheme that optimizes Leo’s skillset and/or that hes gonna sign a team friendly deal sign me up. But why pay top dollar in a hard cap to a square peg?
