We'd still lose the tiebreaker, 3 way tie, based on conference record (5-4 us, 5-3 Cincy) but it moves us closer.
The Jet's have a real chance to make the playoffs if they win every game in the last quarter of the season. Other than that they're gonna be the 10-6 team on the outside staring in. I'll worry about their chances when they're 10-5 and prepping for the last game of the season.
Herm was abysmal with his clock management at the end of that game. It's good to see he still can't get that right.
Jets have as good a shot as anyone to get in at 10-6. Denver has rookie QB going the rest of the way and KC and Jax are slipping and still have some tough games on theur schedule. In fact I would give them and Cinncinati the edge right now as long as they don't screw it up by losing games they shouldn't.
I think we would have had a really good shot at the division if Detroit was able to hold off NE today and putting us only 1 game behind them. 3 of NE's last 4 games are on the road! Including J-ville whose 5-1 at home. I'm so pissed at Detroit right now. Even with NE winning, there's still a shot I guess but the Jets would have to win out. Man, I would kill for a home playoff game this year - but i'll gladly take a wildcard spot if we get it
JAX has to play Indi, KC, Tenn, and NE left on their schedule -- OUCH Denver has Seattle, SD, and Cinci Cinci has Indi and Denver Some tough games - and Indy now has to play out the season since they lost today and they are tied with San Diego -- they can't afford another loss If we take care of ourselves -- we become Indy fans the rest of the season
That's not necessairly true because of the situation in denver and KC lose today. 10 wins could get you in.
Here's the scenario I fear the most: We handily beat Buffalo, Minnesota, and Miami, then lose to the Raiders in week 17, knocking us out of the running, and have to listen to Raiderjeaux crowing about it for an entire offseason.
http://shaveeverywhere.com/   Bricket-Head. That was too damn good. I had to pick myself up off the floor after that one.
If Denver loses... Cincy, Denver, NYJ and JAX will all be 7-5. Denver and Cincy would go because of conference records. Denver is 7-3, Cincy is 5-3, We're 5-4 and JAX is 4-4. Denver is in a strong position conference record wise. 7-3 with only 2 more remaining. We're 5-4, best we can be is 8-4.
And when you break down the remaining conference games (specifically Cincy, Jax, and KC, since Denver is in a good position like you said) it also favors us. Cincinnati vs OAK (2-10) @ IND (10-2) @ DEN (7-5 or 8-4) vs PIT (5-7) OPPONENT W-L: 24-24 or 25-23 (.500 or .521) Jacksonville vs IND (10-2) @ TEN (5-7) vs NE (9-3) @ KC (7-5) OPPONENT W-L: 31-17 (.646) Denver @ SD (10-2) vs CIN (7-5) OPPONENT W-L: 17-7 (.708) Kansas City vs BAL (9-3) @ SD (10-2) @ OAK (2-10) vs JAX (7-5) OPPONENT W-L: 28-20 (.583) NY Jets vs BUF (5-7) @ MIA (5-7) vs OAK (2-10) OPPONENT W-L: 12-24 (.333)
