It's not like we didn't make a play for him....we just did it wisely. 2 firsts + undisclosed @ 23-24m per year is too rich for my blood at this point of our rebuild. We need too many quality players too make this team good. We can pick up 2 quality OL-men in free agency for that kind of money. There are a lot of pass rushers in the '19 draft. In a long run, I feel this is the rite move. I compare this to the Kurt Cousins fiasco. We are much better with the young talent, Darnold than Expensive Cousins.
Lol so true. Would have changed our defense and elevated everyone on it. Our secondary would have FEASTED with him rushing the QB. Maye would be licking his chops with all the INT opportunities.
Its not even mac im mad at.Im mad that this team never lands impact players under the age of 30 & not once in my entire time on this board has prioritizing such been supported. Its always about plugging holes OL & defense. Its no coincidence that we never have anyone we can count on for box score related production or to win their individual match up resulting in impact. People really think we’re gonna find a pass rusher as good as Mack in the draft??I just hope we land one that can actually get to the QB.
Once again using team numbers to try and play down the impact of an individual talent. I guess stupid is as stupid does.
I give Macc props for going hard after a guy who could make such a big impact on the team. It goes in line with his move up to get a FQB not knowing which guy would be there at 3. So, I'm holding off my "Macc has to go!" thoughts for now, but in the end it comes down to what he actually produces. So far, zero playoffs, and a losing record. As Parcells said "You are what your record says you are". He is trying hard, that's clear, but he needs to DELIVER.
To close this thread, the simple answer to the OP's question is...….not now. Its over. And thanks God for that. We would have had to deplete all our remaining picks for 2 years to be in the game. On to the next move.
Absolute bullshit. Dude is a great DE/OLB who puts up very good individual numbers but has never been a "Franchise changing player". Just ask the Raiders who only had one winning season when in comparison to three losing one's during his first 4 years along with some laughing stock defenses. Khalil Mack changed nothing. So glad we're not the team giving up two first round picks, a player and over $22.5 Million per season for a 27 year old Defensive player. Chicago will deeply regret this trade 3-4 years from today. Oakland could end up big time winners while fleecing a desperate Chicago franchise, as there has never been a team that's traded a 1st round pick for an LB/DE that's then gone on to win a Super Bowl thereafter. Ever.
Not true. Mack was ranked 8th in sacks 2016 and 15th in sacks last year so let's please stop acting as if Khalil Mack was the first and/or will be the last elite outside/edge pass rusher that'll ever be drafted into this league. You can change the entire culture of a Franchise with two 1st round picks even if you draft O-Line ala Brick & Mangold. Two first round picks can become deadly for a Franchise. What the fk did Mack ever do for Oakland?!?!? His team impact wasn't within the same universe as that of Darrell Revis or an elite Franchise QB the guy is being overrated because one season; 2015.
Imagine a defensive foundation of Adams, Mack and Leo. With supplements like Maye, Tru and Claiborne? Boy, that would’ve been something.
As far as edge rushers are concerned, theres Von, Mack and everybody else. You’re reaching to rationalize not getting him if you won’t acknowledge that. His combo of size, speed, power and run stopping is almost unprecedented.
Man, if only we had a "Khalil Mack traded to Bears" thread http://theganggreen.com/forums/threads/khalil-mack-traded-to-bears.90969/. or a "Could the Jets trade for Khalil Mack" thread http://theganggreen.com/forums/thre...de-for-khalil-mack.90850/page-40#post-3720540. Good job.
The reports are saying the Jets were in on the negotiations until the very end . I wonder what Mac was offering . I assume he wouldn’t budge on surrendering two first rounders .
Well tbf we haven't had much else to cheer for over the years, so moaning has become a huge habit You want to test out a Manchester City forum, the new kings of soccer and they can still find plenty of things to moan about lol oh and argue like fuck with each other on the topics, so it isn't much different here tbh, well apart from the lack of current success but fingers crossed for the future
