I agree a first, third and maybe a 2020 second rounder if it makes or breaks it. or a player such as Jenkins which I doubt they would want anyway.

And he would be a huge addition to the locker room. As opposed to Fowler who’s an asshole.

Axel-----> my post was directed at OUR GM Mike Mac who IMO drafts very poorly.I think Mack is worth at least two # 1 s but thats me. If Mike Mac was the Raiders GM maybe we could get him for less just sayin

Kurt,,,people want to throw out his first draft because Mac had to use the scouting crew that he inherited but Mac still made the selections. I will say it again anyone can draft in the first round when they are no brainers and when guys fall to you = Williams ---Maye----Darnold but there are multiple other rounds and the draft takes place for days and you had months to do what you supposedly do best and thats scout these guys ! In short I agree with you Kurt but Mac will be here at least 1 more season after this because he is tied to the QB,,,,, hopefully he can build this team with oceans of cash/ cap next year because it aint happening thru the draft.

Ahh... my bad. We are clearly in agreement with wanting Mack on the team, not sure I'd deal consecutive first rd picks however. If they want two firsts it would be next years and 2035. :)

Axel ,,,I think the guy is well worth the picks he is a stud but I just hate giving up picks. Sadly this is our thought process in Jetland " that giving up picks is how we must build our team because our GM treats our drafts like a landfill "

That's actually a pretty good point.

Then again, let's not lose sight of the fact that drafts are crap shoots. As much as I like the idea of building a dynastic team based upon great draft picks, the reality is that there are always more misses than hits, even at the top of the draft, and Macc's record so far in drafting is very mixed. So giving up draft picks - even premium ones - for a guy like Mack is a good bet.

I'm still leaning towards trying to get somebody like Fowler who will be MUCH cheaper, and keeping the draft picks, but with that approach there is no guarantee that Fowler works out either due to performance or his attitude/behavior, nor any guarantee that the draft picks produce the quality/impact of a Mack.

One thing I AM sure of - they need to get a stud pass rusher ASAP.

I think Big Cat's earlier point about splitting the two 1sts over two years might be actually better than giving up ALL of our highest picks - 1st and two 3rds - in one draft.

You just proved the point I was making (without even knowing so). Thank you kindly, sir.

John Abraham? The Falcons ended up losing that trade.

Not only did our NY Jets end up drafting a future 7x Pro Bowler, a 1x Second-team All-Pro and a 2x First-team All-Pro in Nick Mangold with the 1st round pick via ATL/DEN but Nick Mangold ended up playing over a decade (11 years) for our Jets (Thnx you, Atlanta).

The Falcons then went on to only win 1 single playoff game, while Abraham himself was only selected to 1 Pro Bowl/1 All-Pro (both in 2010) throughout the next 7 years following the trade.

Some big time trade of a 1st round pick there...

Jared Allen? Minnesota ended up accomplishing, absolutely nothing following the trade of their draft picks.

The Chiefs ended up drafting Jamal Charles with one of those 3rd round picks who turned into a 4x Pro Bowler, 1x Second-team All-Pro, 2x First-team All-Pro & NFL's rushing TD leader (2013).

All while Minnesota traded away one First round pick and two 3rd round picks; all for a pass rusher in Jared Allen who could only lead them to a losing record of 46-49 (.484%) and 1-3 during postseason play the following 6 years after trading away their 1st round pick and two 3rd round picks, all for Jared Allen.

How'd that trade work our for Minnesota?

Richard Seymour? The Oakland Raiders were fleeced on that one and is the biggest joke of them all.

Seymour immediately then refused to report to the Raiders in the days following the trade, reportedly unhappy about being traded to the Raiders.

The Raiders then went (only) 25-39 during the next 4 seasons following the Seymour trade (.390%).

How'd that trade work out for Oakland?

How many SB Championships did Atlanta, Minnesota and Oakland end up winning the following 17 season's (combined) after trading multiple picks for those 3 pass rushers?

The answer would be 0; as they couldn't even manage to win playoff games after trading away multiple picks for those guys.

Umm... It does not matter what a Jets fan on a fan forum has as their "thread title".

As Jet fans do not create and decide what Oakland's trade demands are for that of Khalil Mack, now do we? No. We don't.

So let's stop living in fantasy world and speak reality.

Me talking multiple 1st round draft picks, has everything to do with it...

I'm sorry if these facts do not fit your agenda but you've also refused to answer my two questions; so I'll answer them for you.

A.) How many teams have ever traded away multiple 1st round draft picks for an OLB/DE? The answer is, well... 0.

B.) When was the last time an OLB/DE won an NFL M.V.P award? The answer would be, 1986 (32 years ago).

I'd rather see Maccagnan continue building this young team around Sam Darnold; and build around him the right way.

Rather than trading away multiple 1st rounders for a 27 year old Defensive player and one who will demand over $20M per season. The fk outta here...

I'd rather see us attack pass rush throughout Free Agency due to a massive amount of available salary cap space.

And I'd much rather see us keep our 1st round draft pick (along with other picks) especially considering the fact that 2019's draft class (come the 1st round) is fully loaded with both blue-chip Offensive Lineman and blue-chip Outside/Edge pass rushers (although you'd have to follow college football to understand this aspect).

That works out to be $22.5 million APY which is kind of what everyone was expecting he would get anyway. Now we know how much it will cost at the very least. I’m still more than ready to get it done if the Raiders back off of their two first round picks demand.

Hell no. I wouldn't even trade a single 1st round pick for Khalil Mack. Not at the age of 27 and demanding over $22.5 Million per season I wouldn't.

There is a huge difference between the Rams paying Donald $22.5M per compared to the Jets doing the same for Khalil Mack; The Rams didn't have to give up a 1st round pick (plus, more) while doing so.

    Fk no.

Individual numbers aside wake me up once Khalil Mack demonstrates an ability to elevate an entire defense around him along with an ability to win games for Oakland as an OLB/DE. And then we'll talk. Because he's failed at both thus far with 1 winning season compared to 3 losing one's.

But yet wants to be paid elite Franchise QB money while the Raiders demand 1st round picks for him?

    It's laughable.

It works out for the Jets because, assuming Sam pans out, his payday is 4 years out. By then Mack is on the verge of retirement.

You cannot build a team when you hit a one 2nd rd pick (and that's still TBD) in a ten year period and amass a steaming pile of poo poo in rds 3-7. Based on the way the Jets have drafted trading away picks to bring in players with proven NFL talent would seem sensible.

Free Agency is certainly doable but that's only half the equation.

Raiders can ask for 2 firsts all they want, I agree they are not getting that.
No one trades 2 firsts for a vet anymore, especially if one of the firsts is an early pick.

I'd offer a first and the Saints third though no doubt.
Have to figure our first might be on the higher end, considering we are playing a rookie QB with a mediocre line.
