Maybe it is because he is under contract already and the Raiders don't feel the need to negotiate a new contract with someone already contractually bound. Maybe it is because his perceived value of himself does not equal the Raiders perceived value of him. Maybe it is because even with Mack the Raiders did not record their first interception until week 12 last season. You may want to guess at why they haven't extended him but you are 3000 miles away and I am sure you don't have Reggie McKenzie's or Gruden's private phone number so you would be doing nothing but guessing.
you cant try to break down why the Jets wont trade for Mack and then just say, The Packers will get him because they have two 1s/ Who says the Packers want to part with two 1s? Who says the Packers want to pay Mack?
So this joker wants to trade for an inferior player who is a known asshole that his team doesn’t want to extend and those reasons can be explained away because somebody banged his niece, but doesn’t understand why Mack’s team won’t extend him? All you can do is laugh.
He's not going to ride out his rookie contract if he keeps playing at a high level. it will be much sooner than 2022
No you pretty much know what's going on in Oakland. If Reggie Mckenize was still calling the shots K Mack would already be signed.( best player he ever drafted) . There is a new sheriff in Oakland ( J Gruden) who doesn't want to commit two 20 plus million contracts to two players. He is an offense minded coach who doesn't want to invest that much in any defensive player , as that going to effect what he can do on his beloved offense.( Cooper who has the same agent as Mack will be playing under fifth year option, and M Bryant going to need a new contract. The Raiders new DC from the Bengals has made his defense work with less. Did a pretty good job of drafting defensive players for his defense.( Pj Hall - Geno Atkins type of player M Hurst - first person off the ball every time excellent penetrator, Arden Key - has more pass rushing moves than K Mack- might turn out to be the best pass rusher from this past draft.
The only issue with this theory is that if OAK allows him to talk to Detroit, they'd allow him to talk to other teams. It would be in OAK's best interest to field all possible trade offers for the highest value. It would also be in Mack's best interest to talk to teams and see what the highest offer would be if he were to sign a huge contract there. The theory doesn't really make sense unless Mack is a lifelong Lions fan and Oakland is fine with only dealing to one team for no trade competition.
it could be the first stop of his before visiting more teams. you just never know what's going on behind the scenes. or maybe Det was willing to offer enough for oakland to allow them to negotiate with mack
Ummm...he's not on his rookie contract. He has already signed a new contract. He signed it June, 2017.
He is not on his rookie contract, he signed a 5 year extension last season, this is his 5th year in the league
I think it would be made known if the Raiders gave him permission to talk to other teams, like 5 minutes after they gave permission word would be out, it has not happened yet.
Jets now have a 1st & two 3rd's in the 2019 draft. Ammo for Mack or can they stay put and have those picks + $100M to spend again?
