Yeah, great move coach - keep the guy from trying to throw long until the regular season when games actually count in the standings.
Well he went against the Giants #1 defense and didn't get sacked or take any real big hits. He did well getting away from pressure & getting rid of the ball when he had to. The OL pass blocking didn't do that bad against a good Giants defense. The part of the OL that worries me is run blocking. I don't like this zone blocking. I haven't seen one time this preseason where the RB had a nice hole to run through. It's all these stretch plays that get 2 - 3 yards at best. Last year there were plenty of times when the RB hit the hole for a big gain. I hope the bad run game is just because it is a new system and they will do better after after they get acclimated to the new system.
I'm impressed that he throws the ball away when he's under pressure and there's nothing there. That might not sound like a big deal, but those of us who lived through Ken O'Brien know that even as a seasoned veteran O'Brien is holding onto that ball and getting sacked. Repeatedly. O'Brien was also indeed a victim of a bad OL, but damn if that guy never knew when to get rid of the ball. And it could never be coached out of him. Sam just seems like a really bright bulb with natural instincts. Sure he'll have his share of hiccups, but I haven't been this legitimately happy about a Jets QB since forever. I mean, I don't get nervous when he touches the ball. Imagine that? Even seeing him standing on the sideline, I feel like that drugged kid that just got back from the dentist in that old viral video. "Is this real life?" Let's be real here. When was the last time the Jets landed someone of this caliber at the most important position in the game? Just pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top don't get him murdered.
Absolutely not, unless Macc doing what should have been done years ago, clean house and start to rebuild is the reason. So this regime under Chris J finally doing the right thing should be blamed for what had to be done? I don't agree.
This is the first time I have been excited about a new Jet QB since we drafted O'Brien in 1983. 35 years ago. Isn't that amazing. I was a big fan of Baker but I believe I was wrong and we got the best guy. I did not want Darnold to start this year. Again, I think I was wrong. His poise, his calmness, his ability to process information, his pocket presence, his ability to slide in the pocket and his decision making have me so excited. I am nervous about him getting injured but he has such calmness under pressure along with the ability to avoid hits and sacks and the smarts to throw the ball away. Being a Jet fan for 50 plus years I am always waiting for the shoe to drop. But this time I think we have the real deal and a star QB in the making. There will be hiccups and a learning curve. But I think we finally have the QB we have always wanted.
Are you saying Darnold did not egress and stayed to watch film or egressed and went home? Please advise.
Looks like we could have a Hackenberg vs. Wolford showdown on Thursday night! I doubt Sam plays. No need for McCown or Teddy to play either, but I bet one of them does.
Haha, I was trying to think of words that ended in "ess" before it was merged (which I knew was coming all along). That was great work along with MoProblems96 digress. Still laughing at both, and it's too bad the thread titles don't translate after the merge. This escapade reminded me of the classic OLD old days in the BS forum when someone would start a topic asking an innocent question and they would get a truckload of nonsensical answers (always the insomniacs after 3:00 a.m.). Pick up your bat and ball and limp home in confusion was the object, lol.
Sounds like they may be putting Teddy in bubble wrap in anticipation of a trade (or the trade will occur before Thursday). Wolford was not good at all as a freshman through junior, but had a fine senior year at Wake. Could be just the kind of guy you want as a backup next year when McCown is coaching.
Truckload shipping is the movement of large amounts of homogeneous cargo, generally the amount necessary to fill an entire semi-trailer or intermodal container. A truckload carrier is a trucking company that generally contracts an entire trailer-load to a single customer. This is as opposed to a less-than truckload (LTL) company that generally mixes freight from several customers in each trailer. One advantage Full Truckload (FTL) carriers have over Less than Truckload carriers is that the freight is never handled en route, whereas an LTL shipment will typically be transported on several different trailers.
Sacrificial Lamb alert! Darnold for a series, maybe two. Bridgewater for a longer stretch. Wolford gets in before the first half is over to finish the game.
TP, its a fine old TGG custom to add the "F'n" moniker to all our more hated characters in Jet folklore... That being said, here are some fine examples: F'n Rich Kotite Paul F'n Hackett Wayne F'n Hunter and some new candidates: John F'n Idzik Brent F'n Qvale
