We haven’t had a decent QB in forever, here a decent young QB falls into our laps and you wanna trade him for a 4th or 5th round pick because “we aren’t winning the super bowl this year” It makes no damn sense to me. I would hang onto Bridgewater like a treasured asset!!
Everyone is acting like Darnold already won a superbowl. I have high hopes for him too! but let's not get rid of a potential franchise QB. All these analyst are like "Which team would you want him to get traded to?". ME: "The Jets!". Stay here. We have a young QB who may or may not need to sit. There is also no rush to trade Teddy. If they are gonna do it, wait until we're certain we don't need him to start the year or until another starting QB gets injured.
dude hes leaving at teh end of teh year either way...thats why I said unless we can win the SB now, you trade him. Its so obviously the only choice we have. I cannot fathom why you people want to hang on to him all year and then lose him for nothing. Its retarded, thats all I can sat
Teddy is a 25 y/o QB who is proving that he's back from injury and can be a starter in the league. I'm not sure why he would want to sign an extension to be a backup with the Jets. How about this scenario..the Jets keep him all season then he signs with the Patriots to replace Brady. I don't want to replace one TB with another and keep that dynasty going. I would think its better to trade him to the NFC for a pick and hope he gets an extension as part of that trade.
This is just not the direction the Jets seem to be going in though. They seem to want Darnold to start as Bates and Bowles like what they see in the guy. I understand your thinking, but if hes going to be riding the bench anyway then he might as well be traded as McCown is a fine backup already.
he will sign with the organization that pays him the most money. The Jets have $90 mill in cap space next year, so thinking ahead like we're gonna lose him is a fool's errand. We will have 1st rights at him and among the most money in the whole league, our chances of resigning him are obviously better than anyone at this point. most importantly though, we shouldn't be thinking that far ahead. Its pretty clear he's the best QB on the roster right now, play him. If he plays so well that he earns a huge contract, who the fuck cares because all that means is he played that well for US. We will deal with that horrible situation (sarcasm) when/if it comes to fruition. At the end of the day, I'm willing to see that through, vs. the alternative, acquiring a measly 4th or 5th round pick... no thanks, I'll keep the player. The player is better than that asset anyway
Aint? Only half that contract is guaranteed. The Jags have a window to win right now, and trading for Bridgewater would hedge their bets in the event Bortles proves to be the weak link on the Jags offense. The market for Bridgewater can certainly change should a team lose a starter, but as of right now this present day the Jags are the most likely to trade for Teddy.
Two teams? Gotta be the... Jaguars. & Buccaneers. Those have been my two trading partners since day one.
I love Teddy so I'm not in a rush to trade him and I think if the offer is a 4th or a 5th I sit tight. If the offer is a 2nd or better? I also think that Sam is going to start the season so I'm not sure Teddy will be playing and winning all that much--not to say he can't, I just think he won't. But yes, he will sign with the team that can pay him the most money and while the Jets will have the resources to do so, I don't think they will. This is going to be Sam's team, likely sooner rather than later. Can't pay Teddy starter money. Not next year. Barring catastrophic injury to Sam. He's our Andrew Luck.
