Jets play 3 games including 2 prime time games on the road within 10 days.....NFL schedulers either think a lot of the Jets or they are out to make them look bad on prime time.
Yea but at least it's against the likes of Detroit (9-7), Miami (6-10) and Cleveland (0-16). If the NFL schedule makers were out to bury NY while ending our season before it started I'd imagine it'll be against the likes of @ N.E, vs Philly & @ Pittsburgh. We actually have a real opportunity in front of us to exceed expectation and start off our 2018 season 2-1 or even 3-0. The only game in regards to a concern of lack of rest is our 3rd game and thnx god it's against the winless Browns. Week one @ Detroit we'll be playing on a full 10-11 days rest after our 4th preseason game. Week two vs. Miami we'll be playing on 6 days rest (happens to every team that had a MNF game). Only the 3rd game @ CLE is weird. Only 4 days rest from the 16th to the 20th. Just imagine a 3-0 start. The opportunity is there with an upset over a solid Detroit team. The rest of the season could then be full of postseason dreams.
Remember when we literally had to bring in the manager of the NY Yankees in just to teach our QB to slide?
That is actually a fair point, BUT the only difference from a normal schedule would be 3 days rest to play the Browns. Starting Monday Night in Detroit is fine. Then 1 day less to prepare for Miami but it is the home opener. I am pretty sure USC played a few Thursday games so that should not be an issue. It's not easy for any player to play that schedule, so I get considering it to protect Sam. On the other hand: It is the Lions, Dolphins and Browns. Not like it is the Patriots, Packers and Vikings. I would not let that influence my decision if I was Bowles, but it would not shock me if it did.
Exactly what were you expecting BN? Given the many "real" QB competitions we're seen over the years, what gave you the idea this one would be any different from the others? C'mon man... You should know better by now..
well if he does start from day 1 it pretty much ensures a top 5 pick next april WHICH would be fine with me as long as he stays relatively healthy and continuously improves into the end of the year. forget the W-L record this year folks.
I think it is pretty foolish to throw our FQB out there (especially if he is not ready ) behind an offensive line that we know not much about.
Yea. That's much different than saying he expects Sam to start. If anything per source he's simply stating that he's got to keep progressing, front office and coaching staff have loved what they've seen thus far, has a fair chance as in an open QB battle and that his upcoming preseason is everything for Sam and could be tell all in regards to either starting opening night or not. Also mentioned he could be a year away. But there was no bold face guarantee of him starting; although I'm all for it.
sure. if he started week 5, that's 5 less games he has to take a beating behind this crappy o line. It's one thing to learn and practice a certain way but when you get knocked around that's when bad habits creep in. And he has some bad habits. mccown got all that money for a reason. to stand back there and take a beating for darnold for a year. might as well let him earn it. like I said, its not like Darnold is truly beating him out in camp anyway
Well, it's eleven, not ten. And every other team normally gets twelve when they're playing Thursday. Not exactly climbing Mt. Everest with no training.
