Looney Tunes absolutely is the pinnacle of animated brilliance. As teenagers in the 90’s my friends and I were all obsessed with it, and that was before the Michael Jordan commercials brought it back to mainstream. Rocky and Bullwinkle was a distant second. The dual episode titles and the narrative of the episodes were brilliant.
the title Tiny Toons may seem to infer a more childish target, but there was a lot of great Looney Tunes humor in it that directly led to Animaniacs.
From the special Hey, Hey, Hey it's Fat Albert. My oldman listened to this, part of the soundtrack by Herbie Hackcock. Then go to Headhunters, Butterfly, Manchild, and Theme From Deathwish. Thank me later.
my favorite Looney Tunes episode is when Bugs played Jacque in a game of blackjack at a Saloon for a big bag of gold. Bugs didn't really care about the gold and just called it rocks but of course Jacque needed the gold. in the game Bugs told jacque he wanted to stand with just 1 card. Jacque died laughing, 1 card, how stupid. Jacque pulled 2 tens and was ready to celebrate his win when Bugs flipped his 1 card over- - the rare 21 of hearts!!
Happy Early Birthday! And agreed, it was a great time. I would argue Batman: The Animated Series and X-Men were actually better storytelling than current comic films these days.
