I'm not saying the Alou deal is a bad deal it's a smart risk reward gamble along the same lines as the Randy Wolf deal in LA. If these deals work its a huge success if not its a gamble that the Mets can easily write off. However I maintain the best deal of the off-season was the Aram deal with the cubs. I know its alot of money but I mean the mans numbers just jump off the chart. This year average wise was a down year and he still bat .291 39 116 and thats in a lineup with NO ONE else. Now he hits in a lineup with a healthy Derek Lee and Alfonso Soriano. They pay 15 mil a year but in this market thats right around market price and certainly better then the ugly Pierre/Matthews Jr./Lee signings thus far.
NJ.com's Yankees Blog, Pride Of The Yankees, reports a crazy scenario that is rumored to be developing that could make Daisuke Matsuzaka a free agent.
That's not going to happen. First of all, the posting system is there for the sole purpose of PREVENTING things like that from going on. And even if the Sox WERE found to have bid only to block the Yankees, his rights would just go to the Mets. Also, the part about Selig signing off on it is irrelevant, as the Japanese comissioner would have to approve it too. Things like this were already discussed by the two leagues and the process they came up with is the posting system. Yankee fans/blog people need to get over the fact that Matsuzaka will not be pitching for them this year.

Steve Phillips is at the winter meetings, and on SportsCenter said that the Red Sox have set a 12 PM deadline tomorrow to trade Manny Ramirez.
Yeah, I walked past him when he was on his cell phone. Also, Ozzie Guillen tried to enter the Trade Show. He didn't have his name badge on, so he was denied entrance. Then he started yelling. Then a group of people said Guillen was with them, so Ozzie was able to get in.
Drew to Boston for 5/$70. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/mlb/12/05/drew.redsox/index.html As a Yankees fan, I love the deal.
So do I. Manny is definitly a goner now. Thank you Theo. btw, The Jays and O's are happy about this too. Enjoy 4th place.
The new New Era caps are nice. It's going to take a great effort from Steve Kline and Julian Tavarez to dirty up their caps next season. The new moisture management technology will greatly reduce sweat buildup. I like the Mets 2007 batting practice caps. I'll buy one.
As long as they keep Manny, which Phillips reported just now is likely, I like this move. Drew is FAR better than Nixon, and injury wise it's about a wash. Plus there is a rumor that this and the Matsuzaka deals are sort of a tandem thing.
In other news, Barry Bonds crashes the GM's winter meetings in hopes of getting a contract somewhere... Nothing would make me happier than to see that sack of shit out of baseball. I hope they all pretty much decided to blacklist him at the meetings.
