exactly. And as far as Allen "busting" I think assuming no injury Allen being a "bust" would still leave him as a multi-year NFL starter. Unless he just mentally implodes or something which I'm not seeing I think that even if he ends up having a tough slog in the NFL he will get a hell of a lot of chances because of his fairly awesome natural abilities. He may be throwing 25 picks for a 5-11 crappy team somewhere but he'll be seeing action. I'd be shocked if this is a Hackenberg situation where next preseason he's in games for whatever team he's on and its an "OMFG this guy can't play" situation. I think some of us Jets fans throw out the Hack comparisons because the Hack experience is close, recent, and personal. But I don't think they apply.
His arm is nothing close to that of Allen...AKA...he can’t throw it as far. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz Those type of throws are even applicable to the NFL.
boom or bust is fine to call him, but when I see the words ooozing with potential and highest ceiling from many experts then I want those words to be backed up by game tape. Allen reminds me of a better version of Christian Hackenberg, which might not be a awful thing but it does concern me, to be fair Allen has a better arm, better size, and is smarter Imo, but he is almost as inaccurate as Hack. The problem I have is that all this boom potential is really only shown in individual plays for Allen rather then throughout stretches of a game. Like hackenberg something just seems off.
i really don't get your hate towards allen, you go out of your way to trash him when it isn't even part of the discussion most of the time.
the experts are mostly idiots anyway and always wrong. Any expert wouldn't be calling allen a top 10 pick based on film. same goes for mayfield. The only top 10 Qbs filmwise are darnold and rosen. the rest is clickbait nonsense i wouldnt' put any weight into
I know, but many times i see you jump in and trash allen when nobody was even talking about him. like in the rsoen/mayfield thread. Be analytical, not emotional that's how you make the best calls. Like a stone cold killer
college stats are meaningless and his film lacks NFL throws. You might as well root for jackson if you want a proven playmaker as his level of athleticism can travel to the NFL where baker will be DOA
Well, the good news is if he gets this pick wrong, he'll be fired and likely takes Bowles down with him. My guess is that if the Jets aren't a playoff team by 2019(or are barely on the outside at 10-6), we're getting a new regime in 2020. I'm of the belief that Mayfield can be a good NFL QB, but acknowledge that he has a few red flags that could prevent him from succeeding at the next level. I'd still take Rosen over him if both are available at 3.
If the QB we take doens't pan out, it'll cost bowles and mac their job. It'll also set us back 4-5 years. That's why i really want rosen because he's so safe. As long as he doens't get injured I cna't see him failing in the NFL
Rosen reminds me of Marino. Best pure passer, but lots of questions about him. With Marino, it was drug use concerns. With Rosen, it's desire to play and durability.
durability yes, I think the desire to play thing is quite overblown. Anyone playing football at as high of a level as him has a desire. He even said he wants to win more rings then brady
