Yeah pretty much. rosen is much more a cerebral QB like peyton manning (who BTW didn't have an elite arm) if anyone was to compare to rodgers, it would be allen.
The ability to make NFL throws is not the same thing as the ability to make NFL throws consistently. Hack can make NFL throws. He's just extremely inconsistent. If Josh Allen had played in the Big Ten he'd have looked worse than Hack did in 2015, probably a lot worse.
If josh allen ha dplayed in an easy spread offense surrounded by good talent, he'd look a lot better. See how that works? he's not nearly as incosistent as people tend to think and no worse off then any of the other Qbs in the draft. they all need to work on their consistency.
I think it would depend on the quality of teammates and the offense being run. That aside, you do realize you are basically saying Allen is a worse prospect than Christian Freaking Hackenberg!?!?
I think Allen is a more mobile stronger-armed Christian Hackenberg. It's not lack of mobility or arm strength that is holding Hack back.
You would have to be ignorant or you simply haven't watched the tape to believe that. They play completely different styles of football.
All great QBs find their own "recipe" at how to succeed. There hasn't been another Joe Willie, Joe Montana, John Elway, Peyton Manning (you would think maybe Eli would've mimicked his older brother, but he found his own recipe too), Brett Favre, Tom Brady, and so on. Each guy used what their strengths were and maximized them and minimized their weaknesses, so Rosen might not be like Rodgers, or any of the others, but he could still be great.
Allen is more accurate, more athletic, and has a bigger arm, still he is slow to react / identify what defenses are trying to do and has inconsistent mechanics. He’s going to need to develop to be a good NFL qb. Some feel he won’t be able to as the things he struggles at can’t be taught/improved upon. In that sense, he very well could end up similar to Hackenberg. If his arm was just average vs all time strong, I’m not sure he gets drafted.
Then we definately don't want Allen. He's the most limited QB out of the 4. If he cannot complete the simplest of passes what good is he to a NFL team. People think his big arm is a game changer. Who would you rather have Aaron Rodgers or Bryce Petty?
he does complete simple passs all the time, as well as hard throws. it's a false narrative people have spread on him. why do you think Cleveland is considering allen at 1, but not rosen and mayfield. Obviously there is a good reason behind it
Niiiiiice.. I'm sorry, but this guy is going to bust hard. JMHO. I truly respect the Allen supporters and you very well could be right and I could be wrong. I just have a strong feeling this guy will not pan out.
Its Cleveland for one reason and they could be blowing smoke to keep the Giants in check. Allen lack accuracy is known issue and people can try and tap dance around it but that is as red a flag as there is. Last preseason they were gushing about Hackenberg completing 3 yard passes in training camp. How did that work out?
they pick in front of the giants so that makes no sense. it's not like the giants can jump them and take their player. on top of that, there isnt' an accuracy issue with allen. it's people confusing completion % with accuracy.
How else do you judge accuracy? Allen is pathetic and his receivers sucked too so that added to his lousy completion rate. No one charts dropped passes now do they? It whows up in the box score as a incompletion. No one has time to chart ball throwned too low, ball thrown too high, ball hit receivers in the hands bobbled it. Cleveland want to pull off a double win. They want a QB but they really don't have to take one with the first pick. They could take Barkley and still get a QB at #4. Whereas if they take a QB at #1 the Giants could take Barkley. Or the Giants could trade out to Buffalo and Buffalo could take Darnold, Rosen, Allen or Mayfield leaving the Browns with maybe their 2nd or 3rd option at QB with pick #4. Understand now?
watching the throws accuracy = ability to place the ball where it needs to be consistency = ability to be accurate a large majority of the time allen has issues being consistent which relates to his mechanics (poor o-line has led to him making rushed throws with poor mechanics making him incosistent) but not with accuracy for instance, lets say a QB has a wide open target 30 yards down field, he throws it poorly and the WR comes back and makes a diving catch for 25 yards. it's a completion but it wasn't accurate, now lets say a QB has a man covered tightly on the slant, makes an accurate throw in front of the WR he catches it, turns up field and gains 20 yards. The inaccurate throw goes for a 25 yard completion and the accurate one goes for a 20 yard completion. teams actually do that, that's what film study is. Rumor is the giants will only take darnold at QB if he's available, if he isn't they will take barkley or chubb. If cleveland wants allen, they could take barkely 1st, and hope the giants take darnold and the jets rosen, leaving them with allen at 4. but it's risky. The thing is Cleveland is the one holding all the cards. rumor is they are looking at allen or danrold with the 1st pick and with 4 looking at chubb or barkley, one of which is guaranteed to be there. the giants didn't have interest in trading down. The jets tried to trade with them, so the idea they would trade down seems unlikely.
They have a different GM, the same one that drafted mahomes last year which people here love. He also found kareem hunt in the 3rd round (led NFL in rushing as a rookie), marcus peters, and tyrek hill in the 5th. He did a pretty good job in KC drafting
Target drop passes percentages: Lamar Jackson - 8.5% Baker Mayfield - 8.0% Josh Rosen - 7.5% Mason Rudolph - 6.6% Josh Allen - 4.8% Sam Darnold - 4.3%
