Pres and VP are useless if you ask me. You have a good cross section with Congress, might actually get some shit done if they weren't worried about appeasing or opposing a figurehead.

The fact that the popular vote was separated by about 3 million votes proves you are wrong. The popular vote has been the same results as the electoral in almost all cases except for four elections. The electoral vote at this point only exists to disenfranchise people who live in higher populated states and highly densely populated cities with the gerrymandering BS that goes on. Look at Pennsylvania. 18 representatives, 12 of whom are Republican and 6 of home are Democrats. In the last elections for PA, 53% of voters voted Republican for representative and 47% voted Democrat. That should be 10 Republicans and 8 Democrats making the spread less huge. 12/6 is not an accurate representation of the voting populace of PA.

Hell, overall, in the 2016 election Republicans got 247/435 of the house seats (56.8%) despite only having 49.1% of the popular vote while Democrats got 194 seats (44.6%) even though they received 48.0% of the popular vote. The other 2.9% has no representation. Almost 1.7 million people voted Libertarian but they have absolutely NO representation in Congress. That should be 6 seats. Not huge but suddenly by having a third party in Congress/Senate, it's relevant. Now you have to actually work with other groups to pass legislature instead of only your interests. Suddenly you can have representation in the government without having to vote for Blue Shitty Party or Red Shitty Party.

So in California the popular vote was a difference of 4.3M in Hillary's favor, in a race where the popular vote difference overall was 3M, not sure at all how that proves me wrong. So not 12 states, not 8 states, but 1 state can swing an election for the entire country. Yep, that makes sense. Lets "disenfranchise" the small, less populated states because the larger more densely populated states are feeling "disenfranchised". This is The United States of America, where each state is entitled to vote their choice for President.

And news flash, both parties are guilty of gerrymandering.

Just to clarify Gore won the popular vote in 2000. In 1860 Lincoln got 40% of the votes in a 4 candidate race but had 500k more votes than the the 2nd place candidate. In 1864 Lincoln won easily in a 2 candidate race by 400k winning 55 percent to 44 percent.

I know! I'm a Linconphile, and I salute you for being on your toes! Lincoln should've gone with Hannibal Hamblin instead of that drunken idiot, Andrew Johnson! Johnson basically ruined all of Lincoln's vision! Definitely should've gone with Hamblin! Hannibal would've eaten our enemies faces with some fava beans and a nice Chianti! The Hamblin part? 'Clash of the Titans', one of the gayest movies ever made besides 'Ben Hur'! Keep your enemies in check and solve that gay marriage thing at the same time!

Fish-eyed Zuckerberg getting drilled right now. Nothing will happen to him. See all of my Facebook/Zuckerberg posts. People are idiots. Fuck him. Seriously, disconnect and fuck him.You can do it.

I love entrepreneurship and ingenuity, but he has become a robber baron of your information right up there with Google. HIPPA, lol, it's partly why I left my job of 11 years. And Zuckerberg's wife is a Dr., no less. LMAO. Anyone who belongs to Facebook seriously needs their head examined.

Zuckerberg is holding his ground, but he is so full of shit. Security, security, security! Security, haha. You are being stalked EVERYWHERE you go. I am transitioning away from google/gmail. You can't even look at a youtube video any longer that won't play if you have cookies turned off. It's over. Google: Your Privacy is important to us! OK. It's pretty much over. I welcome the idea of going back to my flip phone and basically becoming a Luddite.

Zuckerberg may have stolen the idea for Facebook from 3 guys who founded ConnectU at Harvard.

There is no valid reason for giving Wyoming an equal vote than California. None. If the entire state of California voted one way, and the entire state of Wyoming voted the other, why should that count the same? Why should the 14.2 million who voted in California have their voting power diluted to match 256k who voted in Wyoming? 55.5 times the people of Wyoming voted in California so they should get 55.5 times the voting power. If we have to choose who to "disenfranchise" between 14.2 million people or 256 thousand people, the choice is clear. The only people who seem to like the electoral system are those who are in favor of the minority party (population wise).

What? It doesn't count the same. The states get a number of electoral votes based on the census. We are the United STATES of America, not the United People of America.

Nobody's vote should be disenfranchised. The winner take all system and gerrymandering disenfranchise too many votes.

California gets 55 "votes". Wyoming gets 3. So each person voting in California gets 1/3 the voting power as someone in Wyoming.

Yes, people laugh at flip phones but at least you don't get spied on. If it's not the CIA or NSA spying on you, the Russians surely are.

People gave me shit and called me paranoid when I used to laugh at them for running Kaspersky Antivirus products. Like you can trust any AV provider let alone one from Moscow. How did that turn out? Kaspersky turned out to be a spying op. Sometimes I feel like going all Linux and flip phones but then again I like my Macs and iPhones.

Mark Zuckerberg is full of shit of course. Security is just a buzzword nowadays. Very few people and companies now a damn thing about security but everyone pretends. You have about a gazillion worthless CISSPs and their dumb opinions but they can't get anything done on their own. I had a CISSP ask me once if the MPLS in my network diagrams was a company. They are all clueless. FB will dump a ton of money into security but so will the hackers, in the end the hackers will win of course because the information is too valuable.

53 to 3 is not even close to an equal vote, if what you were trying to say is that the electoral votes is not directly proportionate to the population that would be a little closer to the truth but the 2 electoral votes allocated for each Senator was part of the compromise when they first worked out the system to give less populous states an equal voice. It was always intended to be a combination of state based and population based. Feel free to lead the charge to change it.

And I replied to it the first time but you really are misusing the term disenfranchise. This system has been in place for over 200 years, that you feel it is "unfair" is not disenfranchisement.
