since it was a waiver claim, i believe we take over his contract he was already on which should be cheap like less then 1 mil.
Nice! Solid flier given the state of the TEs. I'll be interested to see which, if any, of Walford, Leggett or Sterling step up. Tomlinson seems pretty entrenched as their blocking #2, but I suppose even that can change
Should be one year at $2,105,626. Actually less as I think he had a signing bonus so probably about 200k less.
from what I read, he can't inline block at all, which is why he was 3rd string last year, and is why Gruden dropped him. Gruden puts an emphasis on TE's that can run block (as we should). why do we keep picking up TE's that can't block? should have kept ASJ imo.. Every time Tomlinson steps onto field, the defense will know we are running.
it is exactly that...haha. and yes they are on the hook for 196,626 in cap hit from his signing bonus
I wanted ASJ back too but he was ridiculous with his contract demands. Clearly did not want to be a Jet or appreciate the chance they gave him after all of his off the field mess. He cleaned himself up and played a solid half of a season, but reportedly demanding $7-8 million a year was a joke.
I approve of claiming Walford and at 1.9M, it's not big money. He has receiving talent. With Walford, Leggett, Tomlinson, Sterling= no way Jets draft a TE this year. PERHAPS an UDFA is brought in, but it looks like this season will be : Walford, Leggett, Tomlinson on the depth chart. I think Walford can and will be equal to what ASJ did last year and at about 40% of the cost to what ASJ signed for this year.
heck no, I hated Amaro with a passion. terrible attitude, and my grandmother could block better (but she was 250 and ran a sub 4.9 40 ). I think ASJ would be here if we matched Jax offer, which was a very reasonable one. We stayed put at 2yrs 8M. Just don't see the point in TE's who cannot block. Can only use one dimensional players in certain situations really.
if he a'int cutting it, they can cut him and save 2M in cap space with no dead money. he's no lock. although our alternatives suck also.
I know the contract means no guarentee, i'm syaing based on his talent and what we have, I can't see him not winning the starting job. I mean i was the one who posted we should grab him when he was waived
