nothing too surprising there. i thought rosen would be higher though. everyone raves about his football IQ
Rodgers, Wilson, P. Manning, Elway, E. Manninig, Rothlesberger, Favre, Montana... And yes, there are other factors outside on an individual athlete that affect outcome, but when you're weighing the impact that one player can have on your team, "winning mindset" is one I would factor in heavily.
peyton won a lot in the regular season, but struggled to win in the playoffs. it was always a knock on him. he was 14-13 in the playoffs. his QBR in the playoffs was 87.4 and long jump down from his career 96.5. the 2nd SB he won, he was awful and a shell of himself. hardly the peyton manning we all knew. he threw a total of 2TDs and 1 INT the entire playoffs that year, was under 60% completions, and his most yards thrown was 222. he only threw in the SB 141 yards 0TDs and 1 INT. his rating was 56.5 they won on defense and the run game. If you took that year out, he was only 11-13 career in the playoffs. Rodgers has only won 1 SB, Wilson won 1, but also lost one throwing the game losing INT. Elway didn't win any his whole career until his final 2 years when TD ran for 2k yards and their defense was tops. Marino never won one. Eli is barely over 500 in his career as far as wins go. Favre only won once as well surrounded by a great team beating out the pats led by bledsoe. Montana had a stacked team as well. I don't disagree about the importance of a good QB. an elite QB will make up for a lot of holes elsewhere on your team. and a decent QB can carry a good team to a SB win (dilfer, brad johnson, flacco, foles) but an elite QB won't win shit on a bad team either.
The anti-Allen brigade is an interesting one. However, I don't think he's on the board come 3. I'm convinced he's going 1 to Cleveland. What happens after that is anyone's guess.
If he went 1st overall, it would be ideal for the jets. I'd be calling the giants right away and offering a trade to swap picks with them and grab darnold before someone beat us to it, but worse case, we still get rosen. Nobody in their right mind would take allen over darnold, but it's a very browns move to make
I think Cleveland goes Allen and the Giants take Darnold, leaving us with Rosen. Buffalo then will try to trade up with Cleveland at 4 so they can grab Mayfield. Whether they're able to, I have no idea. All depends on what they offer and how much Cleveland covets Barkley or Chubb. That's my prediction for how things shakeout on April 26.
yup it's all a crapshoot. If the browns take allen, it bodes well for us. I'm not convinced the giants take darnold. I think they want an immediate impact player. That's gettlemans MO in his career. he likes playmakers, they have a huge need at RB I think barkley is their pick. I can't see them moving back either with barkley on the board. If they did, cleveland would take him at 4. Either way though If the browns take barkley or allen 1st overall, we are sitting pretty at 3. it would be an ideal situation for the jets.
Really, the best way to value a QB (or any player) is watch their game tapes and try to extrapolate how well their game translate to your team. There is no surefire way of quantifying that. If there were, all of us here would be applying the formula and figuring out who the best QB is and then collecting our paychecks as GMs.
I think the wonderlink's best service is to give team's notice of a red flag if a player scores very low such as Vince Young. I don't think particularly high scores add a lot to the evaluation but the very low scores can be of concern.
