Good for the Jets to not be used. That's a good step in the right direction. Sends the message that you either want to be part of what we're doing here or you can move along. I think that will entice the kind of players you want on your team more than begging guys to take your money.
What is a concern to me is we made the highest offers to two of the biggest free agents Suh,and Cousins. Yet we could not even get either to come in for a visit.
2 guys that have already made a boatload of cash but have never been on a good team..... doesnt really surprise me.
The Jets are only going to be able to get guys like Trumaine Johnson who are looking for their final payday or re-sign their own guys who have a comfort level here (Claiborne) until they start getting good again. If you are Kirk Cousins who is looking to get paid again in three years or Ndamukong Suh who is looking to sign a 1 year prove it deal so he can secure a multi year deal 2019 why would you sign with the Jets? If you recall when the Jets were competitive with Rex free agents did want to come here.
Perhaps to talk to other DL before they get signed elsewhere. Why just let it drag on and let Suh use us to get more money from another team.
It was Johnson saying he was unaware of the offer , then he discussed it with Mac and he decided to with draw the offer as it doesn't fit his vision of where he sees the team going. Then going on to say Bowles wasn't made aware of the decision. He basically said that the Owner, GM and HC are all on seperase pages. That's concerning.
Suh on the Rams. Had the Jets, Raiders, Rams, Titans & Saints made offers. Snacks went to the Giants. Makes no difference, Suh is the better player
Not what I heard. Not what anyone is reporting. Every news outlet is questioning what happened, that no reason had been given. Of well. GM to me should keep ownership up on what's happening. GM doesn't ask or have to tell the HC that he's pulling the offer. CJ said, Macc gets the players, Bowles decides who plays, how much and how. Pretty normal to me. Better defined than how Woody communicated with the HC and GM
You blame the Jets because Cousins went for the win now job & better team? We don't know who Suh would have signed with of we didn't pull our offer. He didn't turn is down, we turned him down.
I have heard that argument before about how they loved playing for Rex but besides Bart Scott I don't think it was true,,,,I Cant remember one guy that took less to play for Rex and he was here for years,,,,,could be mistaken but I don't recall it
Not really, there was a deadline on the offer and he ignored it which to me means he turned us down. He also signed immediately after we pulled our offer which means, as advertised, he was just using us to get more money from somebody else, not that I think he did.
The Jets pulled the offer. There's no denying that. There is not one shred of proof that he used us and got a bigger offer out of the Rams. Some Jet fans never see a situation where we're not getting screwed. Like the idea floated in this thread that it always happens. Pure nonsense
Snacks and Suh were rated #1 and #2 (in that order) in run defense for 2017. Snacks is the team captain and best player on the Giants defense. Suh won't be the team captain or the best player on the Rams.
