You're just being intellectually lazy and dismissing him because of one incident and maybe because he's short and played in a spread offense.

That's sad and pathetic! If you guys who have dismissed Mayfield bothered to watch any game film, do any reading about him, who he is, how he is viewed by his teammates and CS, and look at this stats, you'd see what a great prospect he is and how the chances of his busting are practically nil. He walked on at two major football schools, won over the CS, won the starting job, and played at a VERY high level.

There are two decent QBS in this draft. Barkley is the only other choice in the top 3 but he will be gone before we pick.

The problems I foresee are ONLY good ones : eg if by chance we have to decide between Rosen and Mayfield ..there is a large contingent here who like BOTH

After Darnold and Mayfield I got nothing.

 

Rosen. I don't want him though. But if Darnold is gone at #1 and lets say someone trades up to #2 to get Mayfield, I wouldn't be upset if Rosen came to us.

 

If we wanted Rosen we would have signed Bradford in free agency. Both are made of glass.

 

So if my situation happens, what do you do at #3? Trade down?

I would love to trade down regardless but would not do so unless we get back more than we gave up.

If Darnold and Mayfield go before our pick we should absolutely not settle for QB # 3.

Barkley, Chubb, and Nelson are all excellent value at the three spot.

 

I disagree we should trade down and get less.

 

If we had a FQB, sure. But we don't. If the Jets traded up for one of those players, Mac should be fired right now.

 

So why trade up in the first place?

 

A player either is or is not a good value at a given spot.

Us wanting to reach for a QB does not change the value of the other players.

If the Jets passed on Rosen at #3, Jets fans would riot and Macc would be fired immediately. Yeah go for that value guy or trade back down instead of a potential franchise changing QB that is a perfect fit in WCO, is pro ready, and is the best pocket passer in the draft. I would puke if he did that.
