    This. A million times, this.

I get it, the Jets need a QB right now in the same way a drowning man needs oxygen RIGHT NOW.
But I look at Darnold, Rosen, Allen, and Mayfield, and I don't see they guy I want to bet the future on.

Then again, what do I know--I thought Jake Locker was going to be the next Joe Montana.

No shame in this Big Cat. I remember you as well. I am a Mayfield guy myself but after hearing legler's pow on Allen I am not as worried if Jets end up with him. I am also glad you are high on Mayfield as well.

Agree, I like Phil, but he likes big armed qbs.
He liked Paxton Lynch over Goff.

    Food for thought...

Isn’t it weird that all the media rumors are that the Giants won’t take a QB? You’d figure that if they want to drive up the price of their pick they would leak that they’re sold on QB at 2 to get someone to pay a king’s ransom to get them off of it.

Is it possible that they’re actually dumb enough to take a position player to try to make another run with Eli?

Nah dude they didn't trade up just to trade back. This aint the Draft Day movie and Macc is no Kevin Costner.

if Darnold and Rosen go 1-2, Josh Allen is coming to NY

I think the powers that be want to make a big splash right off the bat. Get the sexy RB, mask some of Eli's deficiencies, and still end up with a QB in round 2 most likely. I'll be honest, I won't even get on the Giants for going with Barkley over a QB if they do.

Draft Barkley if Darnold is off the board. Which will make it easier on our NEXT potential Franchise QB if we're able to land one over the next 2-3 years.

Rosen has had multiple head concussions with trauma to his brain.
Mayfield has questions both on and off the field.
Allen is a Hackenberg 2.0 type of question mark.

If Sam Darnold is off the board. You don't just "guess" and HOPE for a miracle franchise QB; You take Barkley and build from there.

I get the logic but I still think it’s a mistake. Eli has been terrible the last 2 years and the new regime has the chance to get their own guy to build around. You’re really gonna pass that up? When’s the next time they’re gonna pick too 2?

If they feel like they can get a Falk or Jackson or Rudolph in the 2nd and they have that high a grade on Barkley, it makes sense. I think Eli is terrible, but you can mask how bad he is a few ways:

-Improve the OL (not sure they DRASTICALLY improved, but they improved)
-Keep Beckham on the field and sane (that's hard to do, I know)
-Put a stud playmaking RB in the backfield

I'm not even saying that's the right way to go about it, I'm just saying I get it if that's what they do. Not my cup of tea, but I can see the logic behind it.

Also, I just really REALLY want them to take Barkley for our sake.

Anyone saying to draft Barkley at 3 in any scenario need to start looking at the situation logically. It doesn’t matter if you think he’s the best player in the draft, which I’d agree to, he’s the best talent in the draft. However the Jets trades up to 3 for a QB, they didn’t trade for a RB, they didn’t trade up to move down again, they traded up to select one of Darnold, Rosen, Allen or Mayfield.

That is the reality of the situation whether you agree or not. I happen to agree with the strategy as I am a firm believer in never passing on a potential franchise QB when you get the chance and don’t already have one.

I've had Allen nightmares over the last week, that's a 100% true story (ok, just one, but still).

But just now, sitting at my desk, I found total euphoria mid-daydream. The Browns took Allen 1, they viewed him as a project that could sit behind Taylor for a year, they preferred his upside to the NFL-readiness of the other guys and knew he might be gone by 4. The Giants took Barkley because they are dead set on building an offense around a stud RB.

It needs to be draft day already.

I was curious about the difference in the Jets draft picks before any trades, and after that suggested trade I made with the Broncos. Here it is.

    BEFORE ANY TRADES
    1st round: 6th overall (1,600 pts)
    2nd round: 37th overall (530 pts)
    2nd round: 49th overall (410 pts)
    Total Points: 2,540 *

    *Unknown 2019 Draft Pick

    AFTER TWO BIG TRADES
    1st round: 5th overall (1,700 pts)
    2nd round: 40th overall (500 pts)
    3rd round: 71st overall (235 pts)
    3rd round: 99th overall (104 pts)
    Total Points: 2,539

In the scenario that Darnold and Rosen go 1 and 2, the Jets could have just selected Baker Mayfield at No. 3 overall. Why? They could draft Barkley and send him to Denver and get Mayfield at No. 5 overall. Cleveland isn't drafting Mayfield 4th overall. They will take o-line after Joe Thomas retired.

Jets 2018 Draft picks BEFORE trades: 8

    37
    49
    72
    107
    157
    179
    235

    4 picks in TOP 100

Jets 2018 Draft picks AFTER 2 trades: 9
    5

    71
    72
    99
    107

And what if Buffalo makes Cleveland an offer at 4 that they can't refuse and takes Baker at 4? Then what?

I just wanted to see what you would say. I disagree with the list as well for different reasons obviously. Lynch was a fan favorite around here, but I smelled bust the minute I watched film of him. Lamar Jackson should be on that list over Lynch for sure. Mahomes over Josh Allen. Jackson > Watson IMO.

Jake Locker had a lot of good traits. Who knows how he would of turned if he could stay healthy and had better coaching?
