Via Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, Bridgewater’s one-year deal includes only $500,000 guaranteed, via his signing bonus. Bridgewater’s $5 million base salary is non-guaranteed. The deal also includes $9 million in incentives. They can cut Teddy anytime with only 500,000.00 cap hit Cheap...but good insurance.
I totally agree. A very smart move. Actually, the cap hit would be $500,000.00. You have an extra zero.
I think this is more of an injury precaution than an anticipation of subpar play, or a precursor to trade bait. Even though he passes his physical you really don't know until he gets hit by an opponent because of that devastating injury. And if God forbid, he would re-injure that knee somehow in training camp or preseason, you don't want to be out $5m clams for nothing. I take it as an injury precaution up until the regular season starts, just in case. Then he starts making the millions starting in September.
If he makes the team it becomes 5mill fully guarnteed,If he starts it becomes 9mill fully guarnteed. From what I heard
sounds like a good deal to me. 9mil for a starter is dirt cheap, 5mil for a backup isn't bad. if he can't make it through camp and make the team, losing 500k is nothing
Be nice. Teddy is worlds better than Tebow could even dream about being, and these Vikings fans who came here and are becoming Jets fans because of Teddy seem like good guys and are welcome.
Those two guys are cool. There was no other reason for their posts like most of the fans from other teams who you can see thru from the other side of the internet.. Tedy's a longshot but it would be nice to hit on him, even as a long term back up.
I'm sure he could have gotten a better deal somewhere else to hold a clipboard. Takes some balls to sign a contract like this one, he's really betting on himself.
He either had no market or he has a hell of a lot of confidence. Hoping for confidence. I mean, look who’s in front of him.
Don't be a downer, RT. The Jets are the first team to pay with Mars money. Mars money could turn the NFL on its head. Ancient Aliens can fix the Jets.
Say what you want about Mac and his talent evaluations which is deserved He's clearly very good at contracts and mitigating risk away from the team. If he can't play 500k Just a back up 5-9mil 21+tds and play offs 16mil! Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
Why? Even with a gimpy knee he would be more mobile then many NFL starters like Bradford and Brady. The question is whether the knee holds up to tackling. If it does, teddy wants to play, not hold a clipboard. If it doesn’t, teddy will want to move on quickly. He will make a great coach one day.
