How so? If they commit to not starting Rosen, Mayfield or whoever the pick is, and Teddy outplays McCown in the pre-season, why wouldn't he start?
I’m banking on McCown beating out Teddy considering Teddy isn’t good and McCown is the incumbent (plus Bowles is the HC).
Teddy certainly has upside. I've said it earlier this week; McCown really has no purpose starting. It's not benefiting this team for this upcoming season.
The rookie we draft at 3 either beating out McCown in camp or being better than Teddy when it’s time for a QB change is shitty?
The plan should be for the best QB in training camp and preseason starting week 1 whether that's Bridgewater, McCown, or the rookie.
Really glad to hear that he passed his physical. His presence gives the Jets more options than they would otherwise have and by all accounts he is the kind of guy you want to get a good second chance at an NFL career - whether with the Jets or elsewhere.
Every QB taken in the first round over the last 4 drafts (as far back as I could be bothered to check), which is about 10 QBs in total, started at least 1 game in their rookie season and most started a lot more than that.
I don't think you take one of those top 3 (which they will) and then not start them. I'm pretty convinced Rosen/Mayfield/Darnold would probably beat McCown and Bridgewater outright in camp.
I'd rather have 3 options at QB than what we had the last few years. I can't believe people are complaining we have too many QBs. Only Jets fans...
Glad Tedy's getting paid. If anyone deserves another chance and pay day it's him. Would love to see him come out and prove something too. Really hoping he does. I expect to see a good look at him in camp and the preseason.
McCown had a good year last year and may beat out the rookie in TC. I wouldn't want him too, but he may. Also if the rookie has some rough outings we may need to throw McCown out there in a few big games. The Jets are planning competing next year and you need a solid backup. Bridgewater is a hailmary reclamation project. He's thrown like 2 passes in the past 2 seasons. In an open TC competition between Bridgewater, yet to be drafted rookie, and McCown...I think Bridgewater finishes 3rd.
he's a good guy he's a great mentor he's a qb coach he's a veteran he's a QB Todd is comfortable with he's "only" making $10mil etc...etc...etc...
