I would bet there will be a team that needs a backup because of injury that will come calling for Teddy especially if he has a good pre season. Player swap or 2 try 4 pick.

Might not be a bad idea to keep Bridgewater around. See RG3 and Kirk Cousins.

True he is good insurance. Trade would depend on how well your rookie is progressing.

He may be our starter for the next few seasons.

Bridgewater is a low risk high reward signing,.. I'm excited to see him in TC.

If he is not playing he is cheap insurance and if he is playing he is going nowhere...I can't see him getting traded. I am guessing they signed both because they have no intention of letting the rookie do anything but hold the clipboard this season as they should.

If he plays well, we should at least get a decent compensatory pick in 2020. I guess that is one positive with all these 1 year deals.

Me too. McCown should be the one that goes away. Maybe Bridgewater could be our Nick Foles. Well, until Rosen or Mayfield is ready.

It would make no sense for us to trade Bridgewater before the season, as some are suggesting ... Bridgewater and a rookie @3 give us 2 chances to find our starting QB , moving forward.
My only regret is we didn't sign Teddy to a 2yr deal... if he plays well this season we'd at least have the option of getting something for him next year if the rookie shows he's ready.

Was Bridgewater's contract finalized? According to an article on newyorkjets.com, they've only agreed to terms. He's not on their roster yet.

No ones gonna offer us something until they see him return to form in the preseason.

Interesting thought... But if he's healthy I think he's gonna be hard to keep off the field

Mccown's guarantee is the full 10M, Bridgewater's is 1M..no doubt who will go away if either of them do.

No but they seem to be doing that from high to low dollar amount. Johnson and Mccown's are. Then a couple small ones, like the kicker and the rb..the rest are all waiting.

In a dream world where competition reigns. Say Bridgewater outplays McCown in TC. He should start then. I will never understand them resigning McCown.

They can tag Bridgewater and keep him around or if some team truly wants him they would have to give up a draft pick.

Like I said Bridgewater was nothing more than insurance, if they couldn't move up, doubt he's even in the plans going forward, why would Bridgewater even want to sign here now? The gets are staking their claim in whoever they draft, McCown is the mentor

Your point being? They were signed first day of free agency. Has zero to do with competition in training camp. Best player plays right?
