It seems pretty stupid to pay Vanderjagt (who will still probably command big money) just to kick KOs. Besides, he's averaging only 59.9 yards per KO this season (hardly impressive), and has never been a big KO guy during his career.
He went 100 straight kickoffs without a touchback prior to this year. Plus he had a kickoff specialist in Indy much of the time. He's a real pressure kicker too. Seems to solve all the problems that people complain about with Nugent. This thread is just absurd.
I want no part of that clown. He misses every big kick he attempts. He's living on the remains of a long dead reputation. I'll take my chances with Nuge.
Have you watched him kick this year? He sucks! Plus after nuge's career day, how can you want him gone?
Nugent missed 6 FGs last year as a rookie. This year? 3 FGs? I personally don't like him nor the 2nd round selection of a freaking kicker...But he's been alright. Now, his kickoffs are shit. Vandy doesn't kickoff well either.
Vandy CANNOT make a winning kick..weve seen it time and time again that he just chokes on game-winning kicks...especially in the playoffs. Sorry to say it, but Doug Brien was pretty accurate until the Steelers. Lets give the Nuge a chance..he proved last week that he can kick it..have some confidence. Nugent is young and only getting better.
Off Topic but... Does anyone know who has the best avg KickOff this season in the NFL? The answer will floor you.
This guy made his career kicking indoors. He'll sign with Atlanta who has Morten, I'm 100 years tomorrow, Anderson kicking.
Even I have to say I'd rather take my chances with Nuge. If Bill Parcells drops you, but keeps Terrell Owens, there's got to be something wrong with you.
  Are you serious? Vanderjagt is so awful at kicking off that the Colts had to carry an extra kicker when they had him (it was Dave Rayner for a bit, then Baker, then someone else...). Vanderjagt is the worst kickoff guy ever. Yes, he's a lot worse than Nugent, amazing as that may sound.
