True, but our running attack of McKinnon, Crowell & McGuire would be a very formidable. IMO, Jets view Powell as expendable due to his age. Hence their interest in McKinnon. I dont know who's on the market still but I wouldn't be shocked if jets still try to add a RB
Consider the source here. I don’t think we were ever in the running for McKinnon. Especially since La Canfora has a tendency to report the polar opposite of what’s true. Also Spencer Long stinks.
Yay to DaQuan Jones! Spencer Long I'm not sure about. However he's an NFL player at C, which should be better than Wesley Johnson. They should still consider an interior lineman high in the draft. Jeez I didn't think Jerrick McKinnon was that good
Dequan Jones would be very nice signing. I don't know much about Long other than being Howie's son. Reading up now. Why aren't they pushing for Jensen? Kinda glad we didn't overspend on McKinnon. I like him but that's too much.
The only thing I can think of is that Jensen is probably looking to be the highest paid center in the league and they think they can get some value by signing Long, who might be a better scheme fit than his numbers would suggest? I dunno. I thought for sure we’d be in on Jensen once we lost Richburg.
Good special teams guy. Glad he's back http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8646/rontez-miles Jets tendered restricted free agent S Rontez Miles at the original-pick level. Since Miles was an UDFA, the Jets will get the right of first refusal if another team tries to poach the special teamer. He played 125 defensive snaps in 2017.
Spencer Long has to be for depth, no? He's not a great Center, he's coming off IR and the Redskins line has been bad for awhile now. Draft Daniels, Price, Ragnow, Wynn etc. Honestly, not infatuated with any of the free agent Centers. Jensen is alright, he's nothing to write home about.
I grade free agency for the Jets thus far as a C+. At this point in time the Browns have done better than the Jets in free agency. The moves they'v made are awesome and exciting. We have only 1 move like that: Trumaine Johnson. You can tell Mike Maccagnan was picked by Charlie Casserly. So fucking boring. You watch when the draft is upon us. Mac will sit at 6 and draft either defense or the quarterback nobody wants...Josh Allen. Fuck Mac!
Tyrod Taylor on a one year deal, Jarvis Landry on a big contract and Carlos Hyde are awesome and exciting? They'll be picking top 5 again. Something tells me you were a Tannenbaum fan...
I tend to lean this way. How many perpetually successful organizations have made a big splash in FA so far? I think the best moves so far has been by the Rams, getting 2 top starting corners for the price of 1
I feel similarly, but also see that Long does have starting experience and should be a good fit in this blocking scheme. What it does is give them a starter and upgrade on Wesley Johnson going into the draft. Especially given his lengthy injury history, I really hope they draft one of those guys
I suppose anything is an upgrade over Johnson. The interior of that line was so bad last year, that Center position is extremely important. I just don't want to see another JAG filling the spot. One caveat though. If they sign Long and draft Wynn/Daniels, either one of those guys can move to Guard if Long works out. If not, they are both tailor made for the Center position.
I agree FA has been a little underwhelming considering our buying power. It really wasn't the best FA class which is why getting Cousins would have been huge. In terms of drafting a QB Allen is exactly the guy I want. Unfortunately so do a lot of other teams so he won't even be there at 6.
I have to give Macc a B+ so far....not overwhelmed by QB signings, but all other positions we upgraded with younger players....positive since we will challenge for SB in 2019...
Jordan Matthews is probably our best bet. This was not a big year for FA WRs but the only other guy out there is John Brown (which is a similar player to Robbie Anderson) and Terrelle Pryor who sucked it up last year
