This is a good signing. I have followed his career pretty closely.

Crowell runs extremely hard and has an underrated burst of speed. He is also a good short yardage back so I expect he will be the one out there for all the crucial 3rd/4th down and shorts.

His weaknesses are that he is not a pass blocker at all and sometimes he tries to do too much when the offensive line breaks down and gets taken down for larger losses than he should. Cleveland was obviously a poor team so they were often having break downs in the OL and they were playing from behind a lot and passing so they had to take Crowell out. Even here- Crowell won't be out there for the 3rd and long plays.

He's better suited as the type to bring in and force feed the ball once you have a lead. Cleveland had very little leads in his time there so there is some uptapped potential.

He has some Thomas Jones in him. Not saying he will be as successful as Jones was here, just saying that is the style of runner you will see.

Yeah, I much would have preferred to get younger at RB via the draft, but we have $ to spend and I'm assuming the thinking is that we won't have all of our mid-round picks soon once we (hopefully) move up to position ourselves to get the QB we covet.

Great breakdown BN. Thanks for the analysis. I was not happy with the signing at all, so it's nice to hear some positivity about it. Hope I'm wrong on this one.

If we sign the Honey Badger, we better hope he doesn't see this! He may not take it kindly being called Crow's "Bitch." LOL

The only thing I take from this is that you watched the Browns when you weren't watching the Jets.

    That's just sad.

Thanks for the info. What I don't understand is what must be his attitude about blocking. He's got good size, runs hard, he ought to be a great blocker. He doesn't seem to hesitate to lower his shoulder and try to run over/through tacklers. Does he think blocking is beneath him? Is he afraid of getting hurt blocking? Is he lazy?

We must figure out the psychology behind this!

Is there a shrink in the house?

Hey, I'm no shrink, but I love picking that stuff apart. I don't even watch football after week 5 anymore. Can we pretend it's important? It's all I got!

Knowing the details of the deal now makes me even happier. We can escape this deal after one year if he under produces or if we still draft a back in April, or McGuire, starts to show signs of dependability. Good deal here by Macc.

My two cents: Jets are replacing Forte with Crowell. He is 25 years old, plenty of tread left on his tires, catches the ball well, great value in terms of his contract and will compliment the RB's the Jets already have.

I really like this move a lot.

I see a little Chris Ivory. A guy that attacks and beats up would be tacklers is a good thing, especially the DB's. Wears them the fuck out. Ivory was a big part of that 2015 run they had.
