Well clearly Teddy wasn't getting a starting job or a multi-year deal anywhere so why not take a one-year deal behind a 39-year old guy who gets hurt himself?
Wait did I miss something? Did McCown and Teddy already battle in TC? This sort of statement bores me. Another man's trash is another man's treasure. Oh, speak for yourself on being super high on Mayfield.
If the Jets don’t end up with one of these four QB’s fans will lose their shit, and rightfully so. Even with Bridgewater and McCown here this year there still isn’t a QB signed for 2019 on the roster besides Hackenberg. This years draft is about getting the QB of the future. That guy is not Teddy Bridgewater.
Mayfield has a ton of talent. His ceiling is very high And if you look at the the way things are shaping up the Jets are high on him. They have been doing a lot of due diligence on him.
This day has amazed me. And one of the things that I can't quite get my head around is that the Vikings had 3 starting-type guys and let them all go. What are they going to do now for a #2 guy? Overall though I'm pretty happy to get Bridgewater. Not sure what I think about the 1 year thing but I'm glad he's on board. Maybe Bryce Petty can get a job with the Patriots. Belichick clearly said in that press conference that he (Petty) was "impressive" and I'm sure he wasn't just blowing sunshine
I think Mayfield goes in the top 5, if the Jets don't trade up they won't get him. They did their due diligence on Watson too.
i'm with you. but there is a tribe of them with the torches already lit. i'd be very happy with one of the above and falk in the 2nd or move back into the first for jackson
Can we please focus. Some of you wanted McCown, some like me wanted Bridgewater, both are risk, one from age one from injury. But, but. If Teddy regains his form before the freakish injury we could be in fat city. This move does not by any means negate the drafting of a QB at six. Which it would for KC. To which I say fuck yes. Brilliant. $15M of near term insurance with upside versus $100+ Of long term commitment for a guy that is not even top ten. Fuck yes baby
The league obviously has no faith in him at this point. The Jets have enough cap space that they can throw 5M at him and it doesn’t hurt them at all. My guess is that they view him as insurance in the event McCown goes down so they won’t have to play the rookie they draft. By signing him they are also throwing the uneducated portion of the fan base a bone, because a lot of people still think he can play.
Mark my words boy. The contract with McCown embraces him transitioning to QB coach next year and dual role this year. I love it.
I wanted Bridgewater here but what sense does signing him to a 1 year deal make... he isn't going to see the field all season.
Its up to teddy to beat Josh. If he can't well he cost 5mill and he'll be gone next year. If he does and does well. Were in good shape to move forward. Unlike signing Kirk. This does not take away the prospect of a qb at 6. But it also doesn't mean we have to incase we love a lesser qb prospect. Let's just keep swinging. One of these will end up hitting if you swing enough times. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
