I disagree. Clearly Brees is the better QB, but not being better than Drew Brees does not equate to not being very good. If I’m Minn and believe I am close to a SB in the next two years, and am going all in for it for the next two years, you don’t need Cousins if Brees will sign with you for a chance to win another. That is hardly a red flag about Cousins. If the Browns would rather have Brees for two than Cousins for five maybe you’d have an argument.
Could be a negotiating ploy against Cousins leverage them, and they're doing their due diligence anyway. As long as Sean Payton is in NO I have a hard time seeing Brees leaving after what they did last year. Of course you have some people reading nonsense into it to show they know better
I realize that I am not going out on a limb with this, but I’m going to make my final prediction. The next Quarterback of the New York Jets will be... Kirk Cousins Although my preferred choice would be to find one in the draft, I can understand why the Jets are smitten. Cousins stats are eerily similar to Brees’ when he entered free agency. I have 3 hopes/wishes with this situation: 1- that the Jets structure his contract in a way so that it is front loaded. Use as much of the cap room this season so that there is flexibility for the seasons afterwards. 2- that the contract is for more than 3 years. I don’t want this to be viewed as a short term answer by Kirk or the Jets. The Jets need Kirk to buy in for the long haul for this to work out. 3- that the Jets surround Kirk on the offensive side of the ball to give this the best chance for success. I don’t care what defensive players are available at 6. Go draft an offensive player. I really don’t think they should invest at all on the defensive side this offseason. Get some offensive line help and god damn it draft some decent skill players. Rant over. I pray that this works out and we have a Brees situation to look forward to. If not....oh lord...I can’t think about that right now.

Bullseye. to the third power. Pay the crap out of him but retain as much future flexibility as possible by paying it more in the beginning. And then draft some FRIGGEN OFFENSE! I hardly even care what or who but make it offense and make it count. I want at least decent hits on all three of our top draft picks this year. As I've posted before my ideal would be Cousins, Nelson at #6, BRBA at 2nd round pick #1 and then either BRBA if they went offensive lineman with the pick before or somebody to catch Cousins passes with the 2nd round #2.
I am shocked how SILENT the Jets have been the last week. Not just with lack of moves, but with beat writers having no knowledge or inside information on what is going on. The old regime would leak stuff 24/7. Looks like the Jets have cleaned that up. No one really knows what the Jets are doing right now but the Jets themselves.
