Orleans Darkwa is freaking trash. Had all of the opportunity on the world to grab the Giants starting job and lost it a few times.

Like where your head is Mac so far.

Weston Richburg = Average C at best
Orleans Darkwa = Below average RB

    Only looking at 4 QBs

What? He was the solidified starter when he was healthy. 4.5 yards per carry. Can catch out of the backfield. Had the most yards by about 300 on the team. 5 TDs in 11 starts. He’s fine for what he’d be brought here to do.

He lost a lot of touches to Wayne Gallman, he was also their 3rd down back a lot. We need a more talented back in the backfield IMO. Jets can't depend on Darkwa for 250 carries a season. Powell is entering 30 soon. McGuire to me has soft hands, but I question him as a runner.

We need to do a better then Darkwa.

  4. Neither are gonna command huge money by any means & Darkwa May not even make it past camp.

Richburg is a solid player..nothing special but There aren’t many special centers in the league & their potential difference in a zone scheme is marginal. He is a clear upgrade Over Wesley Johnson

Darkwa is a potential rotational back who may not even make it out of camp..but has playing experience & is a power running which is something the team needs

What do you mean only looking at 4 QBs?

I think Richburg would be a nice signing as long as he’s healthy, he was pretty good when he was.

Dwarka is meh, I really hope the Jets look to the draft for a RB.

Per the NFL Combine, they have only set-up interviews with Rosen, Darnold, Allen and Mayfield. However, reading tweets and a lot of teams are interviewing Lauretta and Mike White as well. Jets need to cover all grounds, I haven't heard any news about them not looking at any other QBs outside of them 4.

I know a lot of Giant fans and they said Richburg is average at best. Not good at the run game, decent in the pass game. Was concussed this year and felt like the replacement was just as good as Richburg.

These guys aren't difference makers, we gonna give them 4.5M to sit on the bench like Ben Ijalana?

I mean whats an upgrade over Wesley Johnson? Johnson probably won't be on a team next year ... there are 2 in the draft and there's also Jensen from the Ravens who was rated much higher.

If the Giants were happy with their running game they woudln’t be letting these guys hit the market.

I like it but would replace Ritchburg with Jenson. 12 weeks to recover from a concussion scares me, even if reports are true and he cleared the concussion protocol after 10 weeks, he's a concussion away from the end of his career.
Also, I'd let ASJ walk, rumors are he wants a minimum of $7 mill a year and I don't think he has earned it. I'd replace him with Trey Burton or possibly Brate if he does come available.

Richburg I think is pretty good. Above average anyway. Agree on Darkwa he's a dime a dozen nobody. Don't want him.

I'm not thrilled with the RB's being linked to us in terms of interest ... I'm really hoping we grab one of the upper tier guys in RD2 of the draft.

Agreed. My hope with that (and with an even more underwhelming C option in Travis Swanson) is it's filling holes so they have flexibility in the draft, not that they would no longer consider an RB in Day 2

Just because he hasn't had an array of touches in his career doesn't discount the fact that he's 30 and is only getting older from here. I am totally in support of both keeping him and moving on from him. I am not in support of adding any additional veteran backs. We should have a rookie, McGuire and a veteran, whether it be Powell, Darkwa, or someone else. This position badly needs an infusion of youth.

You're not going to have 4 running backs on the active roster and if you do, that means less, or zero, touches for McGuire or the rookie. Not really an effective way of doing things.

Claiborne is good when healthy. Key words: when healthy. The Jets will likely move on and it will be the correct decision. Skrine belongs in the slot and still does a good job there. If he's asked to do anything else, it's a problem. I think he'll be back. The Jets will likely sign at least one, if not two, veteran CB's and draft another. It's time to find CB's who can stay on the field.

Not necessarily. In the past teams have kept a short yardage back who was a power back and who basically only got snaps in third and short and in red zone situations. Similarly, teams kept 3rd down and long backs who were often the scatback types who were very good receivers, were quick and elusive, and who may also have served as PRs or KORs. Since Bowles wants to focus on improving the rushing attack, there would be some merit to keeping 4 RBs with two of them being the primary ball carriers and the other two serving more specialized purposes. With both Powell and McGuire being very good receivers out of the backfield and being pretty quick/fast, it lessens the need for the 3rd down specialist. I think where the problem lies is that the Jets should not have added McGuire as he is too similar to Powell. Powell was nowhere near done. The Jets have had too few players that they drafted that played well and then stayed with the team their whole careers. Powell deserves to retire a Jet. They needed to add either a starting caliber RB or a power back last year. Forté may have been that starting caliber RB in their eyes, but the tread was pretty much gone from his wheels when the Jets signed him. Just as the offense in general, and the OL and QB positions specifically have been ignored/mishandled, imo so has the RB position.

The Eagles had 6 active RBs on their roster: Jay Ajayi, Kenjon Barner, LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement, Donnel Pumphrey and Wendell Smallwood. I don't know how many snaps each got, or if the last two got any carries at all, but it's a good thing they had Corey Clement on their roster in the SB.

Skrine has never been more than just ok in the slot. He was way overpaid when signed. He has played well at times and poorly at others even when playing just in the slot. He is the last veteran player they should hold onto imo.

I see what you are saying but the Darkwa thing isn't that big of a deal. You are right he's not great but he would just be another piece in the running game. He's not gonna be handed the keys or anything. I dont think he's better than Bilal Powell and I hope no matter what that they draft a running back this year as the draft has a wealth at the position

One thing I will say about him is that he is a "safe" running back. He never has negative plays and he always falls forward. When a team has a lead that's a great weapon. I dunno if we're gonna have too many leads but there's a nice role for him if he comes here and we do

This is one of the deeper drafts for RB. If the Jets need someone to seal the deal, draft a Nick Chubb, who has more upside / younger. We need a back that the Jets can depend on to get yards, not just fall forward. What about moving the chains?

Darkwa is a waste of a roster spot.

Like Powell, I'm OK either way keeping or getting rid of Skrine. I understand both sides of the argument. Skrine is a good slot CB. Outside of that, he's pretty piss poor. If Bowles is going to play him outside, get rid of him. If he plans on putting him in the slot and not moving him, finally, he may as well stay.
