Stafford is more talented, Ben has the track record/postseason success and deserves to be considered the better QB.

This isn't 1v1 competition, though. Organizational stability, front office acumen and coaching matter.

Talent-wise, Rodgers is the guy for this generation. Roethlisberger is probably 4th or 5th, depending on when you think to place Manning. That ain't generational.

Youre insane. Big Ben is much more talented and is a once in a generational talent. That team would have no success without him. Because they really arent that good outside of a handful of players

That's less money than it seems. Most states use the "days worked" standard, which means that the percentage of income that is subject to tax in that state is the proportion of total days worked in the state out of total days worked that get taxed by that state. Therefore, a player doesn't have to pay New Jersey state income tax on 1/16 of their salary if they play one game in New Jersey (say); rather, it would be only the proportion that corresponds to a day or 2 out of the total number of days worked, which includes training camp, OTAs, practice, etc.

No you wouldn't and you know that. Y'all really kill me as if we're so above him and have better options.

Yes i would, id still have the same problems with signing him to a 30 mil contract. Its just stupid. But youre right those, clearly were not above that, because this organization is stupid enough to do that.

Without that above average OL, one of the best RBs in football and the best WR in football?

Man, he literally has no one.

Robinson is going to be 25 in 2018 and as such he is approaching his prime. He got hurt last year which will depress his value some. If the Jets can get him on a two-thirds of market value deal he is probably a good sign, assuming he can pass a physical.

The only caveats with him are that his 2nd season was much better than his 3rd and then he got hurt. His catch % went down by a lot from his rookie year to his third year as defenses started to key on him. The Jags were not willing to make him a strong multi-year offer coming off of the injury and that's why he hit free agency.

If he's healthy he's probably still a good buy at $10M/yr with not a huge amount of guaranteed money and outs for the Jets after 2 years. He fits into a 2020-2022 Super Bowl window as he will be 29 in 2022.

There line hasnt been good in years, part of the reason ben takes so many sacks. Ben makes otherwise nameless guys look like rock stars. And how many games has bell missed?

Bringing in a 29 year old QB to a roster that needs OL, WR, RB, TE is not building up the roster in a productive way. By the time the other pieces are added in Cousins is 31-ish and we have no idea how he will age at this point. We have no idea how much of a pounding he will take in the interim. Adding a bunch of vets alongside him for a quick push might work but then in 2 years they're starting to drop out because they were mid to late prime coming in the door. We're back in 2011 and then 2012 in record time.

The Steelers have had injury issues on the line in some seasons and had trouble filling. This is at least partly because Roethlisberger, Brown and Bell take up so much of the cap.

Roethlisberger takes the number of sacks that he does because he is not particularly mobile and he is a stubborn son of a bitch about throwing the football away. He also completes many more passes with a defender hanging off of him than any other current NFL QB.

Exactly, their roster is not that talented. If it weren't for those 3, that team wouldnt compete.

The OL is talented when healthy. Staying healthy is the problem. Smashmouth football is a double-edged sword even with clip and cutback blocks outlawed.

a FA QB is different because you already know what you get. cousins has performed great for 3 straight years in the NFL, made a probowl, never got injured or missed a game (which is huge, remember how chad killed us with his injuries). with a drafted QB you have no idea what you are going to get. We don't need to worry about cap. as i stated before no team has won a SB with 50mil in cap space. the eagles right now are over the cap and they just won. with a back-up QB and their starter on a cheap rookie deal. The pats have little cap room and brady is underpaid. what's the point of having cap room? using it to improve your team. thats what signing cousins does

If anything, Big Ben is underrated. Stafford is not close. Obviously Peyton Manning and the Patriots dominated the AFC for most of his career, but without those, who knows how many rings Ben has? He is an all-time great QB.

Is their some hidden narrative that Roethlisberger gets sacked a lot because of poor OL play? Wilson has taken 71 more sacks in the last three years, Stafford 70 and Cousins 32.

Among full-time starters, those three QBs have had the least amount of support from their OLs and running games in that time. I don't even think it's debatable.

He ended our last great chance at getting to the Super Bowl on that 3rd down throw to Brown. :(

It varies by state and if they have a
"Jock Tax" or not. It's not as bad for NFL players, but a nightmare for MLB, and NBA players. Especially those on smaller contracts.

IDK about run game. wilson had beast mode early in his career. remember the run in the NO game from him? cousins has shit around him. no RB, no O-line, medicore WRs except 1 year when he threw for almost 5k yards. stafford has had great Wrs too but no run game or o-line. cousins is the only QB in the NFL besides brady putting up huge numbers with subpar talent around him

Agreed. Can the Jets have an independent party talk with Cousins' agents to gauge contract - or is this illegal?

Good question. I think the true answer is that is illegal, but people forget these are human beings. They talk to each other. They find ways to relay information and interest levels no doubt about it.
