Fireman Ed wasn't at the game today, but some guy with a one of those airplane hats took over. He did a nice job, and the noise was pretty good for a Texans/Jets game. It was empty at kickoff, but filled up nicely.

What a shame.. The overpaid cheerleader couldn't make the game.

He helps. And you know what. When I was watching the game today I thought the crowd was less noisy. Now I know why.

Sorry, I guess we're not allowed to comment on anything then. Jets won, so let's close down the entire message board shall we?

I meant, I hope the guy's health is ok, otherwise why does it matter whether he shows up or not? As long as the team shows up and wins. Geesh.

Is it not sad we need a fireman called Ed to actually make some noise?

It was funny, some skinny nobody in a black t-shirt tried to do the chant the first time and even with him up on the scoreboard no one joined it. The guys under the jumboscreen tried to take it back in mr ed's abscence but the Jets crew wasn't having it.

I was sitting in Fireman Ed's section today and at least 3 different people got on someone's shoulders to do the chant. They all got the crowd to follow along and they put it on the jumbo-tron (except for when a chick tried to do it).

I also doubt he gets paid anything for doing the chant - obviously, you'll have extra opportunities when you are a recognized figure, but no need to hate on they guy just because he's become "Fireman Ed" rather than Joe Schmo in sec 133 seat 5

I sure would love if that bastard actually posted here. Or any jets message board. I hate how anyone slightly known can't mingle with the masses.

Glorified fan- leading a chant really doesn't do anything for me...

I'm much more impressed that Penny's brother makes it on TV during every home game...

Does he get free season tickets, and free trips to playoff games in Denver?

If so, he's paid.... and he better file it on his income tax.

Actually, before he came along (he is right on the isle where the TV cameras are, that's why he gets so much attention) The Upper Decks used to do the J E T S chant back and forth for most of the game (only when the other team had the ball, or on field-goals and kickoffs), each side trying to be louder than the other. I wish it would go back to that. It was Soooo disrupting to opposing offenses!!!

I've always thought we have one of the quieter crowds in the league. It never seems real hostile like in other stadiums. Just my opinion though, never actually been to a game obviously because of where I'm at.

That could be because Jets fans have had their hearts ripped out and stomped on every year for the past 35 years.
