Because McDaniels would have to be an egomaniacal dummy to stab the Colts in the back without one? Who else is going to hire him after this stunt?

God, I hope this is true. Then, as I said above, Belichick retires, Kraft screws McDaniels by giving the job to someone else, Brady screws Kraft and retires because he doesn't want to deal with an entirely new set of outsiders, and then Gronk retires because, well, he's Gronk and would rather party anyway.

This could be Brady pissed off that Butler didn't play because he thinks it cost the Pats the Super Bowl and cost him the chance to break the tie with Bart Starr at 5 Championships. As he said afterwards, it really sucks to lose and if he thinks Belichik caused that despite Brady's record passing day, well...

The Patriot Way is supposed to be about submerging individual issues to give the team the best chance to win. If Belichik actually benched Butler for personal reasons or to make an example of him, well that's not by the Book of Bill.

After agreeing to take the Colts HC job this morning he now has informed the Colts that he will not be taking the position. Lol, where have I heard something similar?

It's not a true Bill move because he didn't stiff the team he was already contractually obligated too to go to a division rival.

Interesting. If true maybe Bill is either leaving this year or next.

He is just following in his master's footsteps. Exact footsteps. Lol
I don't think he is that good anyway.
He has been swinging on Brady's coat tails long enough though.
Think Mac may have made him an offer he can't refuse?
Maybe he will be Bates assistant to the passing game. I mean why not, he has an assistant for the running game. Maybe Josh will be QB and WR positions coach? Lol

This is a lie. The Patriots have the contract drafted and ready for McDaniels stating when McDaniels will take over and how much he will be compensated if Belichick decides to keep coaching.

As if McDaniels was going to risk not having a chair when the music stopped

Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Kraft, Brady and Belichick are scheduled to have a "clear-the-air" meeting this week. Could this be when the other shoe falls? If the reports of dysfunction and tension were untrue, as Kraft, Brady and Belichick swore they were, exactly what air needs to be cleared?

Kraft - Josh, please come back. The press conference is tomorrow time is running out. BUT I MAKE NO PROMISES OR COMMITMENTS

    McDaniels - K, you've won me over

    yea, believable

  16. Schefter tweeted that Kraft had been talking with McDaniels all day & sweetened his contract in order for him to stay.

Where it gets off putting is the fact that assistants were already hired, under contract & working. Slimy all around

I don't believe it. If you're Kraft you want this settled before the playoffs started so McDaniels could focus on the games. This was probably done right after week 17

And if it is true, where are the Colts in all this? Scheduling a press conference while McDaniels is being talked back into the fold by Kraft?

"After agreeing to contract terms to become the Indianapolis Colts' new head coach, New England Patriots assistant coach Josh McDaniels this evening informed us that he would not be joining our team," the Colts wrote in a statement. "Although we are surprised and disappointed, we will resume our head coaching search immediately and find the right fit to lead our team and organization on and off the field. The scheduled press conference at Lucas Oil Stadium will not take place tomorrow. More information will be forthcoming."

    Keeps getting worse:

Keep in mind: The Colts already hired assistants who were expecting to work under McDaniels. Now, those assistants will be forced to work under a coach they didn't agree to work for. It's a mess.

This tells me that BB is not long for coaching. Woudln’t be surprise if this is his last year, and McDaniels is the HC in waiting.

I think Bill knows the window might be closing and is getting ready to jump ship. Take a look at their roster-they have almost no major contributors under 25.
