By the way, that's not true. Cousins started the last 3 games of the 2013 season with Kyle Shanahan calling the plays for his dad Mike Shanahan, which was also Mike's last season as head coach of the Redskins. In 2014 Washington promoted Sean McVay, who was the TE coach for the Shanahan's, to be their offensive coordinator for Jay Gruden. The Jets promoting Bates to be their offensive coordinator would be a move in that direction to lure Kirk Cousins. Problem is franchise QB is not relegated to simply the top tier, elite QB’s. Eli Manning is a franchise QB — stable, consistent, winning QB who can lead you for a long duration. Alex Smith is a franchise QB. But a lot of fans seem to think the only franchise QB that can be built around is the Rodgers or Brady level QB.
