There is a lot to like about Cousins character wise, passion wise, I think he's a good leader who will put the work in and then some. But you do have a point. The arm strength isn't quite there. He's not the type of guy who looks like he'll be hanging in the pocket like Roethlisberger shaking off defensive linemen and throwing frozen rope TD's
Yup, because it makes little sense and you keep repeating it. Yes, it's all things combined. I wonder, which of the QBs that will be available to the Jets at 6 or even if we move up a few spots would guarantee a better completion percentage in the red zone with that same exact team? BTW, he THREW more TD passes in the red zone than Dak, Ryan, Stafford, Rivers, Manning, Cam, Flacco, A Smith.....
I completely disagree. The Jets have been aiming for above average - i.e. just making the p.o. - forever. As Thoreaux said: "You hit whatever you aim at, so aim high". It's not an accident or bad luck that the Jets remain poor-to-mediocre, they're built that way. They have no clear vision of what a winning franchise does, and they throw money at the wall hoping it sticks. For once, they need to step back and lay out a plan on how to build a winner, and find a QB to build that around. Or they can continue to do what they always do, and Woody doesn't likely care because he's raking in the dough. But great teams become great because they take risks, and the Jets are risk-averse, as are many of their fans who seem content with a "great season" of 10-6 and a wild card berth.
Character wise hes absolutely everything you look for in a qb. Its the on the field. Ive seen him throw balls directly to the opposing team with no receiver within 10 yards and over the middle of the field. Thats not just a communication error of it happens 7 seconds after the snap. You could've said the same think about Fitzpatrick before he decided to mail it in. That alone wasn't enough to make him much above average at best.
McCown was better than Cousins in red zone passing last season. Im sorry but you sound very foolish. So now a qbs completion percentage has nothing to do with him? But if it was higher youd give him all the credit. You should actually watch cousins on tape in the red zone. Its not pretty and he really had nobody to blame but himself. Nobody forced hom to throw into double/triple coverage repeatedly. That team isnt some trash team. They have a solid RB in terms of talent. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
They had one true runner and he wasn’t that good and was playing behind a makeshift offensive line for most of the year. For a guy who claims he watched a lot of Cousins snaps...
I sound very foolish? Lol. Read the edited post. You sound like someone who just doesn't understand how the game is played.
None of us are content with that really. We can look back at a 10-6 season and appreciate is because we've seen so much 1-15, 3-13, 4-12. But make no mistake everybody here wants to win Bottom line is Cousins can be a good to very good at times QB but isn't elite. In the right circumstances you can probably get to a Super Bowl with him, but assembling the rest of the team will get tricky with all the cap room he will eat up. If Rosen or Darnold are at least equal (or god willing better) than Cousins early on in their career and still on their rookie contracts, then you can build a damn good team. I would be fine if the Jets decided to go all in and move up to get Rosen or Darnold. It'll cost them, fine...but we have to take a chance at obtaining an elite QB
I don't know about you but I would take a consistent year in your out 4k yards, 27 td's and 13 int with a 93.3 qb rating any day of the week. Whether those numbers correlate to wins depends on a multitude of factors outside of the qb's control, which is one of the reasons football is a great sport and not entirely dependent on one player. No one here is saying Cousins is going to be a super star player. Everyone that wants to sign Cousins wants him because he is going to ensure a level of qb play we haven't had in 10 years which gives us the opportunity to win any game we play.
No it's worse than that. Even worse is a QBs comp %, especially ignoring the number of TD passes he there in the RZ. You know since that isn't effected by how many rushing TDS a team scored in the RZ. Then tell people they don't know as much as his simple analysis
Well the 1400 yards they ran for by committee says they werent that bad behind that makeshift line, so uhh, who needs an education? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I'm so sick of hearing how Cousins had no help in Washington this past season. What is the excuse other years? The truth is Jay Gruden is going to WIN more games with Alex Smith than he ever did with Kirk Cousins.
Not many guys can shake off dlineman like Ben. Cousins arm strength is fine tho. Had very high velocity scores at combine. Passes the eyeball test on the field as well. He can make all the throws and in the elements.
Of youre paying a qb 30 mil he is expected to be a superstar. The NFL stopped writing blank checks to QBs 2 years ago. Those stats are without context. Dig deeper on situational play and his numbers look very different. Its easy to amass numbers when you play from behind. This is the blake bortles syndrome. He had a lot of yards and Tds 2 years ago, won a fantasy league because of him, but what was failed to be noted with the stats was that he threw a lot because he sucked for the firs 20 mins and his team was down. Fitzpatrick never mailed it in he just reverted back to what he was. And Bowles lost control of that team. And for all his Harvard genius the guy wasn't the best at reading defenses (though better than Geno or Sanchez). There is plenty to like about Cousins. He's better than Fitz clearly, but he clearly did not show the Skins enough to get that elite money. They were on the fence with him forever much like I think they Jets are and this board is. Ultimately they figured out they can probably get the same production from Smith for a year or two and get to work uncovering their franchise QB somewhere down the line
My point is very valid, cant help it if youre not smart enought to read what was posted. Not my responsibility to help you understand football and statsbof your on a message board for it either. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
