He would if offered enough money and some assurances the Jets will provide him with a supporting cast. What better place to play football than NYC? If he's successful here, all kinds of opportunities will be open to him. That said, I would still prefer the Jets build a team around a rookie.

I don't see anything in that article that precludes him from choosing the Jets, especially if no other team feels he's worth the money he'll want. Frankly, I don't think he's worth it either. To me, he's another Chad Pennington. He'll get you to the playoffs, but not much further. To get to a SB with him you'd have to load the team with a lot of talent that you would have a hard time keeping season after season.
Nick Foles with Defilippo looks more and more attractive by the day. Foles played unbelievable last night. He was staying in the pocket and making some great throws while getting hit.
After seeing how the year played out for us and the Patriots about to win another Super Bowl. It doesn't matter who we get. We can't even lose right. This team will never win. We could sign Brady and we'd go 0 and 16. I'm 40 and starting to think we are on a Red Sox and Cubs run. We won't live in my lifetime.
He's going to be one hell of a player in the NFL. The problem for us at least is that we do not have the o-line to make him the best he can be. Jets have to address o-line heavily through the draft and free agency. Still wouldn't pass up on Saquon if he was on the board though.
I really don't think that sort of thing matters for NFL players, given how national (versus local, as in baseball, where this sort of thing definitely matters) coverage is. The two most prominent athletes in the NFL in terms of things like endorsements over the last 15 years have been Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers, and they play(ed) in small markets (Rodgers an unbelievably small market) virtually their entire careers. The NBA is similar for similar reasons, with some of the most prominent players playing in places like Cleveland, Oklahoma City, and San Antonio. If anything, you can get the opposite effect from playing in a place like New York - no one remembers the countless ridiculously bad plays quarterbacks from Cleveland have made in the last 20 years, but the QB from New York is still "celebrated" (i.e., ridiculed) all day by ESPN on the fifth anniversary of a meaningless fumble in a blowout loss to the best team in the league.
We could have had Foles for 1/2 the price of McCown. But we would rather go with the 38 year old journeyman with durability concerns and no ceiling.
I could live with this.. Foles looked like a QB that finally has put it all together. I dunno if that's DeFilippo or not but until last night, I've never seen that version of Nick Foles before.
The key is Difillipo. Not looking like he will get a HC job this year which makes him available. I have a hard time believing Bowles will hire a potential replacement but If he did it would be a great start to this offseason.
He's tasted that success in a big moment, and they won because of his play, not in spite of his play.
If the Jets get Difillipo that would be a coup. I don't think it will happen. If we did be a great start to the offseason. Only problem he'd be another coordinator here for a year then gone. Either because the staff was fired or because he became a head coach. I don't think Difillipo will come here knowing the Jets could be changing everything for ayear.
Realistically, I say go get Teddy Bridgewater at a reasonable price AND STILL draft what we hope is our franchise qb, even if that means trading up. In my opinion, other than Rosen (and I'm not even sold on him being ready), none of these qb's are ready to come in and play right away. They may all have tons of potential, but none of them strike me as "can't miss" ready to step in on day one college qb's. Therefore, take a flier on Teddy. He should cost you the least of all the options and he may still have the highest ceiling of the bunch, assuming his leg is alright.
I agree with this 100%. That being said I'd be worried about Bridgewater's legs and want a third qb who can be a back up in case Bridgewater gets hurt early and the rookie isn't ready. Someone like Chase Daniel, (ugh can't believe I'm mentioning these three) Glennon, Sanchez or Geno (I know I'm going to be killed for saying that but I think we would need a third qb with experience because I don't trust Teddy and if he got injured in the preseason or early and we only had the rookie and him it could get bad).
I would agree that it's probably not the primary consideration for coming to NY, but it could play a factor. Yes, Manning and Rodgers played in small markets but were/are megastars in the league. Playing in NYC, Cousins doesn't have to be a megastar to get lots of endorsements. Look how many opportunities Sanchez got and he was no megastar. P.S. The butt-fumble is remembered because it was funny, and people love to say the word "butt." If it had just been a routine fumble, it would have been long forgotten.
