Word got out on it.. Just like Justice League which I thought wasn't God awful, just felt rushed. Seems like too many of these movies are nothing more than glamorized money grabs instead of quality products made for a loyal following.

Older fans: What was the fan reaction when Return of the Jedi came out? It is so much worse than A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. It barely resembles them at all. It's actually a pretty bad movie, besides Luke and Vader's story line. I guess the only fan reaction would be between friends and family since there was no social media or internet at the time.

I had a coworker years ago, about 10 years older than me, who told the story that he saw Empire 15 times in the theatre. How many times did he see ROTJ? Once. He walked out of it and said fuck Star Wars.

he built up his own storyline that the movie didn’t deliver; that’s different from TLJ completely changing established characters on top of being a poorly conceived story with worthless characters.

    ROTJ is great.

Haha yeah, I just re-watched all the movies preparing for The Last Jedi. Watching the original trilogy, A New Hope and Empire Strikes back were so good, but Return of the Jedi just felt bad to me. The beginning was so long and boring with the Han rescue. Then the whole Ewok story line was brutal. Han Solo and Leia are barely used. Like I said Luke was cool and his part was great, so it is not a completely bad film. Just a huge step down from the first two. Wasn't sure if that was the general reaction at the time or not. I never really considered it that way though til I recently re-watched them all.

I still enjoyed ROTJ, though I'm of the generation where I could only see them all in the cinemas on the re-release in the 90s as a kid. I got my family members to take me so many times to all of them, though ESB was like 12 times compared to about 8 for ROTJ. Loved the space combat, and Tattooine. Then again, I was still a kid for TPM so it wasn't as bad to me then as it is re-watching it now. Still better than the sequels though haha.

I think the way the EU (no longer canon) books took some of the stuff after ROTJ made me appreciate it more. The X-Wing series was one of my favourite reads.

I still dont care what anyone says, Revenge of the Sith was right up there with any of the originals, if not better than one or two of them.

Also I rewatched episode 8, and im sorry but it just doesnt make sense period. First order is bullshit, we still don't know how they took over, and TBH it is borderline damaging the originals now because we all believed the Emperor lost, the Empire was over. Well apparently everything we witnessed in episode 6 truly didnt mean much.....And I am not trying to start a political dispute, but come on, its one thing to have some input, but some it feels forced. The female lead character, I like, but some other things they put in there felt more forced than anything....

Disney better bring it in episode 9, the way episode 3 did it. I went pain, death, destruction, lightsaber duels, etc, bring it all. (but something tells me this isnt happening, and that Reys parents are nobodies, and aren't skywalkers, kenobi or solo, and Disney is about to end this with Rey and Kylo falling in love..............ugh)

Revenge of the Sith is brutally awful. I attempted to watch it again on a flight recently and the long, overdone battle in the beginning was terrible, and then at every moment where Obi Wan and Anakin should be concerned or serious they are exchanging witty banter like a buddy cop movie. It’s dislogue that’s clearly “written” but makes no sense when actually filmed.

The First Order is the problem with the new trilogy because they are meaningless and so there is nothing seemingly at stake.

OT — the empire rules the galaxy with an iron fist; the Rebels seek to destroy the empire and save the galaxy.

Prequels — The Sith emerge to exterminate the Jedi. The galactic republic is in jeopardy of falling.

Sequels — The First Order doesn’t rule the galaxy; it’s trying to kill the resistance.

Revenge of the Sith is a really bad movie. In almost every way possible. Then forcing all the plot points at the end was really embarrassing to watch. As I said before, each film has it's moments and ROTS does too like the Obi-Wan-Anakin battle at the end. That was cool. Everything else was really bad. I liked it when it came out. Watching 12 years later as an adult: not so much.

I like episode 3. I dont think the prequels are as bad as everyone says, they're just different. Well TPM is bad but still. TLJ is bad for different reasons. Theres just no justification for that movie.

Just seen it. Didn't hate it. Some of it was decent. The Leia bit was just plain dumb though as was the casino thing. Better than TFA mainly because it wasn't just a rehash story.

As for who Snoke and the First Order are, that will clearly be a prequel opportunity. You think Disney aren't going to milk this cow for all its worth?

It makes no sense, the Trade Federation returning would make more sense than the first order......and if they wanted to do this first order BS, put the first order as the underdogs, or at least on equal footing......not the first order having complete control out of nowhere!

Well we already know 10, 11 and 12 are coming to.

All those children they show at the end will all be grown up come time for 10, 11, and 12. The first order gets destroyed in episode 9, then 20 years later in episode 10 the second order emerges and some random sith just comes out of nowhere.

Haha yeah that's been the big deflection to blame that rather than dealing with the concept of bad storytelling.

Star Wars is losing its lust, thats the bigger issue here.

We have had 3 movies in a 2 year time span, and will have 4 come May. We NEVER had more than one movie in any three year span, so to have 4 is a lot.

And I am not going to say this is good or bad for everyone, however I do know in regards to anything, over-saturation does not appeal to myself. It makes these movies less important. Its like how Marvel has movies all year long, however Marvel is different, this is Star Wars (and I actually like what Marvel is doing, but Marvel is Marvel, Star Wars is a different animal, at least it was, I am actually way more excited for Infinity War than I was for Episode), this was the golden series for most of us. When that star wars music started playing in the beginning, it didnt feel the same as it used to........at least not for me unfortunately.

I really hope they don't overdue this. It is looking like we will have movies run all the way until 2025. I don't see them stopping, and I believe they want at least one movie every single year from here on out.

What I would prefer is an Episode Zero at some point, I dont know if they will do this, but show us the damn Sith Wars. I think they need to change it up, before jumping into another trilogy.......telling us more about the past may be better than the future.
