So you don't think they're bringing in a QB from outside or drafting any Booze? They're rolling with McCown 'cause Fitz and that's that eh?
Yeah the needle keeps moving on Bowles. He's a defensive specialist, he blitzes more than any coach in the NFL, the players play hard for him (what else are they suppose to do). One thing they never say is he has a winning record. This guy is teflon and these fans giving him mega rope is gonna set the team back. At which point will wins and playoff appearances be used to describe Bowles. I'm pretty sure he was hired for that.
I don't think so the majority here thinks McCown is the guy to take the Jets to mediocrity, that sweet spot that gives Jets fans a hard on. bringing McCown back will give the same results that bringing Fitzpatrick back last year. You can have amnesia but I don't. They'll be drafting defense again in the first round because Macc gets a mulligan on fixing the QB position. He can hide Hackenberg again and we can watch Rosen/Darnold/Mayfield/Allen play somewhere else.
They do? Hmmm. Like a 'G' spot ya mean? I don't have amnesia but brain damage is possible so I say Safety or DT, no fucking doubt, in the first round.
Yeah I can see another safety or DT in the first round. Its easily the BPA and Macc can get an early start on his offseason vacation. My bad I didn't know you were a woman. I thought it was men only. So G spot it is.
No problem. I thought you were gay with all that McCown sweet spot talk. I just didn't wanna say it. I thought you might like his ass or something. Never mind. I'm with lgbt so your cool. I have no problem with that. If Trump is cool with that so am I.
Nope don't roll like that and certainly don't judge. But sweet spot is also used in baseball. It means you have hit a ball in that spot of the bat. Anyone that has ever seen my post regarding anything about McCown know my hatred of him is certified. Nice try but not even in the ballpark. Oh that's another baseball reference it means not in an entire baseball stadium would your comment be right
We were set up to tank this season but Bowles has proven himself with minimal talent and earned at least another year IMO. He's not perfect, but you've got to let the guy grow and mature as a Head coach, very much like our young nucleus of players. I love that he's a no-nonsense guy, benching two starters today, and calling out the selfishness of Anderson's 'pro-bowl' remark last week without batting an eye... Feel like with the right coordinators around him, Bowles could be a hell of HC in this league some day.
Spot on. And don't forget getting rid of a load of name guys who've gone on to do nothing elsewhere. Yes that's on Mac largely but Bowles must have had some input, and he loves his vets (according to many on here anyway).
I never said because they won that I believe he will take them to the SB, I said because I don't root against the jets or anyone in the organization I hope I'm wrong about Bowles and he takes team to multiple SB victories. That is what we want for them regardless of who the HC is.
Mega rope????? He is finishing his 3rd season with a winning season and a losing season and so far an over achieving season. That’s mega rope? 3 years? Holy shit we are a joke of a fan base
It's impossible to get a franchise QB unless you are picking 3rd or higher, so Marino must not have been a franchise QB since he was picked 27th.
Not really excited if he comes back, but I think its almost a foregone conclusion at this point that both Maccagnan and Bowles will be back for a fourth year. I saw and article in the New York Daily News about how Bowles should be extended and I am not on board with that. Neither Maccagnan nor Bowles have accomplished anything thus far and extending them is not only premature, but sends the wrong message that mediocrity gets rewarded. They'll be back for a fourth year, but they don't deserve an extension and the leash to stay on past year 4 is short. It's playoffs or bust for me in terms of judging Bowles, and for Maccagnan its sign Kirk Cousins or draft a QB in round one. Also, Bowles needs to really work on his time management
The major issue I see with time management is correlated to the offense. Bowles and Morton have to do better getting the calls in, a lot of wasted timeouts this year cause of that. Some more urgency on 2 min drives could help too. Jets have a rookie OC, so I expect this to get better next year.
If they draft a qb in rd 1 and start him it’s kind of hard to put playoffs or bust as the bar for whether or not they stay. Sign cousins,ok, I can see that. First round qb I think will earn them a little more patience. Barring disaster of course
Calm down please and take a. Tylenol Mean Dean ahahaha Last draft we ended up getting 2 safeties back to back with our first picks...WHO DOES THAT? No decent QB no help for the OL kick the can kick the can Mahomes available Watson available ...but no attempt to draft a talented QB Frankly imo every year we should try to draft a QB..those last 2 attempts by Mac were a farce and everyone knows it I can speculate all I want ..and so can you. Bowles is NOT an Offensive minded coach ..he is known for defense He also man crushes vets at QB ...that's all he wants probably...so thinking he would discourage Mac from getting a FQB is NOT so far fetched He tell reporters at pressers " I have seen our young QBs and JM will be our starter" Well thanks Toddy helps us evaluate those 2 rotting on the roster.....NOT Those are the facts my dear...gotta get back to my lunch
It's kinda of awkward the way the Jets are set up. The Jets would have to run the gauntlet to be able to make the playoffs this season, but they will most likely win 6 to 7 games leaving them out of the playoffs. Next season we will most likely have a new quarterback whether it is from free agency or draft. Should we expect Todd Bowles to lead the team to a playoff spot with a new quarterback especially if we start a rookie quarterback? There are three possible scenarios for I see for Bowles: The team plays well and makes the playoffs where Todd Bowles will most likely gets an extension. The Jets barely miss the playoffs but the team shows some growth and integrity during their run to the playoffs. This possibility is weird because should the Jets give an extension to a head coach that has not made the playoffs during the first 4 years of their coaching job? Third, the jets collapse 2016 style and Bowles gets fired. Todd Bowles so far has been a somewhat mediocre coach. There have been some high moments, like yesterday and some really bad moments like the collapse at Miami. I think it all hinges all on where the team goes next year. I can live with another year of missing the playoffs if we have a rookie QB starting the season, but i don't think I can handle seeing another journeyman QB starting for the Jets where we have no answer at the QB position. I realize that falls into Macs territory as well, but Todd needs to realize that these journeyman QBs will not save his job nor take the Jets to the playoffs. Also, the Jets need to continue to cut down on the penalties and the killer mistakes that are self inflicted. If these three parameters are answered, the Jets will land a playoff spot and I would be ok with extending Bowles. Right now, however, I am not sold on Bowles. I never bought into the 0-16 crap because despite how badly we played last year we still won 5 games and I think this team had overachieved, but Bowles hasn't proven to me that he has the ability to take this all the way. Games like Miami and Tampa bay as well as the whole of the 2016 bring up many red flags that make me reluctant to be on the Bowles bandwagon. Still some of the criticism levied on him can be quite ridiculous sometimes, but many times it can be justified as well. Overall, to me, he is a mediocre head coach. IMO Mac has accomplished plenty. We have a great group of young talented players, better than we have had in over 10 years. I'm not willing to throw the baby out with the bath water because he missed on a QB in three years. So has 99% of all GMs. Had he started the rebuild in year one instead of following the win now BS approach under Woody we would possibly be there now. As for Bowles, I agree, but he has a lot more talent to manage than you are giving him credit for. The defense has under achieved and has been consistently abused by opposing coaching schemes that feed on our weaknesses. Our DC is not cutting it.
The Giants fired their coach and GM today. The owner was out front and accountable. Blamed himself. Our owner is having tea and crumptets with the Queen of England. Our coach does not have a winning record this year. Check your math.
