But... we put up 38 points today?! I'd say we've been pretty aggressive on offense this year, we just don't have the horses to be as explosive every week, as some other teams. It's fine if you see it differently, but I see a team that would wipe the floor with the squad we fielded last year. I'll take that as progress.
Wilkerson, Leo, Claiborne, Maye, Robbie, Carpenter, and Adams (Berry inhured) would all start for KC. No need to act like Bowles is winning with the Bad News Bears. This team does have some developing talent. That doesn’t mean Bowles has to be fired but don’t sell these guys short.
What's astonishing is the fact that many here need to remind us that the 'experts' and most others picked this team to go 0-16, which to me was all mere speculation based on illogical nonsense. This team has some talent and with a little more tweaking and lucky drafting, they could be legitimate playoff contenders next year. It's all about advancing by subtracting along with drafting smart. Heck, if a few calls going their way and 1 or 2 stupid mistakes removed, they could have easily been 7-5. Still don't like Bowles though, but I'm also at this point where I'll have to come to grips about him being resigned.
My two cents. You guys know I have not been a strong supporter of Bowles but I'm not blaming him one bit for today. He is there to win games, period end of story and he is trying to do just that. Conversely, I will never forgive Todd for the dreadful selection at DC. He needs to go at year end. The D is under performing and the defensive schemes seem to be way off the mark. We came close once again to giving this game away. Secondary is getting torched repeatedly and no capability to get to the QB. As much as I wanted Petty to start, I need to eat crow here. McCown did nothing but help us win. He will be back next year I suspect but hopefully in a back up roll. He has been far more influential as a leader with a lot less talent than Fitz. I also applaud Todd for benching Lee and not starting Wilks. In fact, I still don't know why we ever kept him over Richardson. Yes, Richardson was an immature loose cannon off the field but solid as hell on the field. He has fire in his belly, and he is far better than Mo at rushing the QB, he gives it 100% on the field, and he never takes a play off. Mo the prima Donna is absolutely not earning his money. This is not the first time for him. I would have signed Richardson with specific clauses and waived Mo good bye. That's just me. It was a bitter sweet victory, as each one potentially distance us from getting the QB of our dreams, but may be, just may be Mac has a plan to get us one.
I was NOT upset we LOST last week Kris I was posting "tank on tank on tank on" So of course I am upset over this stupid "win"
If you say so. I doubt that tho. Then Woody had to hire a GM and at that point Bowles could've had a direct line to the White House and Barack Obama and it would've meant nothing. Woody could've told TB that they were bringing in a Canadian football team and Bolwes would have signed on the spot in reality. Also, the notion that Bowles only plays veterans is really a myth and not true. He's gonna play who's on his roster, like any other HC in history. That's why some guys want to GM too. But if it was really the way Bowles does things Shell, McGuire, and others, wouldn't be playing, and Robbie Anderson would working at McDonald's now. I'm giving my opinion as to what happened, not whether I agree with the way things went in '15 and '17. In hindsight it's obvious that Woody should have left them alone and let them start this in '15. And why is Mac getting a pass for not making the playoffs during this time when the direction they took did an about face after two years? But Bowles should be fired for the dysfunction above him from Woody? Fire them now and you're starting all over again. And the draft and rebuild has been wasted. I'm glad that's not happening, there's a lot of things to like, with a lot of potential for this team to start getting better pretty quickly now. At the end of the day it's about good players. The reality is that Bolwes and Mac are returning. I'm really kinda amused by the wrath directed at Bowles and for that reason I'm glad he's coming back. It's so pathetic and the ill will is so bad that I'm starting to really hope that they bring McCown back and I can laugh at the insufferable whining on here even tho I want a QB draft pick AND Cousins or BrIdgewater
Wait a second! Hold on! Are you trying to say that Turd "Toilet" Bowles does not only play aging veterans?! How dare you! Don't you read gramps! Ex NFL experts turned TGG forum posters have been pounding the introwebs that TB ONLY plays VETERANS! Even though we have one of the youngest teams in the league, TB ONLY PLAYS AGING VETERANS!!! Stop saying otherwise! Take your fake news elsewhere! /s
Wait a second...he gets credit for turning it around this year but he gets a pass for it going toxic last year?
Nice try, but lame. Remember when you said after last season that Bowles would be long gone by now, and there would be an "interim" coach now, and I lmfao? Then you challenged me to show up after it happened? Good times, right Rale?
Before you feel I’ll will towards us “whiners” think back to how many seasons right around this very date this exact same debate has transpired.Winning a meaningless game in December that costs us a chance at real change.it Really brings things into perspective. I do however agree that the hate is wrongfully directed solely at Bowles..and I include myself in that. He sort of represents the notion of sticking w veterans, concentrating on defense, costing us a chance at a FQB & not caring about finding a FQB. He gives so little in interviews or ever that we’re forced to judge solely on his actions & background whichdo nothing to dispel the perception. He’s gonna get another year as is MAC. But make no mistake the demands for an FQB aren’t going anywhere & neither are we whiners
Good points.. But let me reply to them as best I can: McGown is playing way over his head and having a great year because Kearse Sef Jenkins Anderson and even a couple of new kids are also helping him out big time...will he morph into a Jim Plunkett or Kurt Warner ?? I am NOT a sure. Like Fitz Joshy wants a big contract so he's pumped up to prove it this year. Sorry but the comparison with what Fitz did getting help from Decker and Enunwa is absolutely scary....with an easier schedule than this year he led the Jets to 10-6 and rooks MM into paying him tons of $. Come next year of course JM could "reverts back to the norm" e.g. Throwing interceptions poor decisions and has a terrible year. Gun to my head I just don't think JM is our answer neither do I believe he is a Jim Plunkett/ Kurt Warner type....in the coming weeks if he outplays D Bree's P Rivers or the GOAT I will see the light and admit I was wrong...!! "Change the culture vs complaining about TB ...don't cry for losses". Guess what ? winning changes everything and yes the team is playing hard. Sorry TB is a terrible Coach with a record of 10-19...he hired a better staff but like you said his game management is piss poor...tanking puts you in the BEST position to draft a Mayfield Rosen or Darnold. Today you are all excited with the W but what if this win makes it harder to get even Mayfield??!!! How ya gonna feel draft weekend? I have a completely contrarian viewpoint ..." the team was supposed to be 0-16 but at 5-7 we exceed expectations... BIG DEAL !!! does NOTHING to help create a future..it will help JM and TB get $...but the fan base gets screwed The Giants: The Maras/Tishes are not happy with losing but at this point they KNOW they must move on from the coach and unfortunately Eli ....Idea: Bench Eli , put Geno in there and ensure a losing season and a guarantee at Rosen or Darnold , two blue chip prospects..if you don't think this is the plan well you are just naive...Remember this post when Draft night rolls around and even Baker Mayfield is out of reach ..why? Too many Jet wins ..duh Pardon the sarcasm but this team is organized WITHOUT any future planning
Absolutely correct, although I don't remember challenging anybody to show up after such a long shot prediction - I'm usually more cautious than that. It won't be the Jets this year but some NFL team will dump their coach before the year end; maybe Cleveland after turning over the ball a couple of times today in the end of a winnable game. I even said Bowles would be gone right after the Bucs game and the bye week coming. Shit happens. Then more shit happens. Before you know it fifty years of shit has piled up.
Damn that Bowles! Those damn Jets still haven't been eliminated from playoff contention. Why can't Bowles just lose these game on purpose! He's such a bad coach, having this team exceed expectations. Oh btw congrats to Bart Scott for winning that car bet with Chris Canty Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
I've been there. I've been around a long time too. But I'm not gonna puke all day and night over McCown and a FQB when that could change in 6 months. Some of these guys would love McCown back so they can piss and moan I think.
Lol..I hear ya man.And your right..things can change quickly. My whining is out of fear & distrust bc QB has been tossed aside for so long I want the team forced to address it w a top pick
I wasn't directing that at you btw. I've bitched and moaned on here myself, especially about the Idzick/Rex crash and burn. Let's see what happens. There's definitely a different approach this year. If they don't address the QB future after the season then everybody will be disappointed. But I'm not gonna automatically presume that they won't. There's a lot money and draft picks to do something.
Jets have scored under 20 points twice this year, I just looked it up. Very impressive for a team that didn't have much talent. Jets have to fix the offensive line for sure. I like this offense and Morton called a hell of a game today, when he gets on a rhythm, he can call an excellent game. This coaching staff has to stay intact.
