I don't think Bowles is a good game coach and is therefore has limited upside. His time management is awful and he doesn't hold the players accountable as much as he could. Three quick examples:

    1) The Jets at down by two scores with ~10 minutes to go in the game and they are hiking the ball with 5-10 seconds left on the play clock. I have never seen one team waste as much time while down in the fourth quarter. Simply inexcusable.

    2) The Jets spike the ball with 1:19 left in the first half. Who the F spikes the ball with over one minute left in the half - especially with a timeout still in hand. The next play was a long TD so nobody is mentioning this play. Also, I don't know if that was a Bowles call or a McCown call. Nevertheless, I don't want a QB or a coach who would make that decision.

    3) Pennel takes a stupid ass penalty on forth down at the end of the game - essentially leaving the Jets with no chance to win. After that play he's still in the game. The game is lost at that point. Get the guy who screwed up out of the game and make a point that dumb penalties will no longer be tolerated.

I agree with you about pennel.
The offense has had a problem all year with getting the play in and snapping the ball quickly. We have spent more timeouts saving delay of game penalties than I have ever seen. Not sure if it’s morton to mccown or mccown to the offense that is breaking down. Or is the verbiage too long? Not sure but Morton needs to figure it out and Bowles has to be on him at practice

It's not that change hasn't worked, it's that the changes the Jets have tried haven't worked. But they can't stop trying to change. Being risk-averse is for losers, and guess what the Jets are? Look at the final FG they made....why not go for the TD? Oh, yeah, that was too "risky", but that's exactly what winning teams do. What's the worst that could've happened? They don't score and they're still down only one point. But that's not in Bowles's make up...he's too conservative, he plays not to lose instead of playing to win. And in a game like today, when McCown struggled at the end, why not try Petty? At least he would've made the defense have to adjust, and maybe he gets lucky. Worst case, he doesn't and they lose, which they did anyway.

I'm SO sick of the same shit over and over!

No one in their right mind, with actual skin in the game, would have passed in taking the lead at that point in the game. No one. The rest of your post about petty is based on what you think he is and what the coaches who
see him every day think he
Is. So it’s oointle to debate

Yeah, because none of those things reflect poor play which can’t be blamed on coaching.

Well maybe no one would've, but that's one of the big problems with the NFL now: no one takes chances; it's predictable, in other words, BORING. Maybe that's why they're hemorrhaging fans. And the gist of your posts is that you accept the evaluations of guys who are losers.

Don't forget we have to look at the video tape. For a guy who doens't make adjustments I wonder exactly what tape he is watching. Porn? Cause it sure isn't football.

I sure would like to find out. Because we've seen the McCown show and its not really good now is it? Do you want to see another year of this? I sure don't but by looking at two young guys we can eliminate alot of stuff in the offseason. One McCown does not or does have to come back. Two we can keep Petty and Hack around next year and still draft a QB. Three we can roll with Petty and the rookie QB keep Hack 3rd string. Or four we can gut all these bums sign another placeholder to develop the rookie. Last resort waste millions on a free agnet but still draft a QB to develop and sit.

I really believe that if toilet bowl comes back next year he will start mcnown and forte again if they are kept. Bright future, huh?

That wouldn't get anyone excited. Bowles does not deserve to come back.

Failure to protect the ball (fumble and go-ahead TD) and players committing dumb penalties (roughing passer on unsuccessful 3rd down) , MUST BE on the coach. He should be preaching that every day and should bench players who screw it up. Prediction: Bowles will play McNown the rest of year regardless of record. Johson will STUPIDLY give Bowles an extention in offseason after 5-11 (at best) record in 2017. Bowles will play McNown and Forte all year next year if they all around. We will then have this same discussion same time next year.

During each game week Todd Bowles probably watches himself ON TAPE stating "I'll have to watch the tape," so he doesn't screw up his standard line after each loss.

Sadly, you're probably right about Bowles and McCown being back next season. Forté won't be back. If he is then Mac should be fired too. You may be having the same discussion next year, but I won't, and I'd bet that Colorado won't either. We're sick of the stupidity of the Jets and I'm fed up with the stupidity of some of the posters on this board who support Bowles and maintaining the status quo. They deserve Kotite- level Jets for the rest of their lives. I wish there were some way I could guarantee that for them, while insuring a winner for the rest of Jets fans.

We should all copy this to our computers, smartphones and google drive. Next year if Bowles and McCown come back just upload this manifesto to ANYONE that supports Bowles. Good manifesto tomdeb.

We think McCown sucks and he's proving it everyweek. Something has to change at some point and a real coach would have the foresight to see that. But Bowles is on autopilot while the plane is going head first into the ocean. You would think you would try and gain altitute and follow the checklist to see what has worked before in situations like this. Not Bowles he hits the accelerator and plows right into the ocean. Then looks at the tape.

I'm not blaming Bowles for McCown not taking the sack or Pennel's RTP. Sorry not doing it.

You can blame Bowles for not setting a standard back in July that bonehead penalties will not be tolerated. You can blame Bowles for not sitting Pennel after his dumbass move. You can blame Bowles for avoiding eye contact with Pennel when most coaches would be in his face big time; in the old days a coach would be dragging the guy to the bench by his facemask. Is he there to not make Pennel uncomfortable or to use such jackassery as a teaching moment for every other guy out there?

I have other things to do on weekends than watching the McCown show for yet another run. If that's what they're gonna do, its fine by me since I have that choice of either watching or not watching. I won't watch the McCown show closely again since as long as McCown is the starting QB, the Jets are going nowhere and I've seen enough of that over the last 50+ years. So, I'm content to let the homers support mediocrity until hell freezes over. In the meantime I'll be exploring other more rewarding options on weekends. Life is too short and potentially too rewarding to waste beautiful fall afternoons. I've long since outgrown being a Fanatic about the Jets. It won't be long before I join the apathy club. Extend Bowles and McCown? Great. Keep signing old guys hoping for career years? Fabulous. Selling the fanbase on another fake youth movement? Sorry, not buying in.

Coaches, even moreso than QBs usually get too much blame or too much credit..... but when I team repeatedly blows leads in the 4th qtr, repeating many of the same misjudgements along the way, that reflects pretty poorly on him.

At half time he probly locks himself in a room and watches shrimpin videos. That's why he looks so mad all the time, he'd rather be on his boat then coaching the jets. Can't say I blame him to much
