Yeah if Rosen can just keep his outspokeness to a minimum and focus on being a QB, he will be just fine.
They could try and do what KC did last year. The Chiefs traded 1st Rd picks with the Bills and selected Patrick Mahomes with the 10 pick. If the Niners are going to build around Garoppolo then that is who the Jets should be talking to in trying to move up.
You missed the overarching point which was that Darnold eventually overcame the turnovers, stepped up his play and (just like last year) made those around him better while Rosen (just like last year) got hurt, took a powder and went on a downward spiral production-wise. Now when the same thing happens in back to back seasons that's either a coincidence or a pattern. And as it would apply to Rosen, not a pattern you'd want to hang your hat on. Now maybe Josh gets his act together - let's hope so because he's overdue.
Yeah I really don't get it with Mariota I don't know if it's the scheme or not but it looks like he hasn't taken the next step. I thought by year 3 he'd be lighting it up
Shall we start a new thread just for the USC-UCLA game? I can carry it over to Draft forum once the game is over. If you feel like starting a thread on this main board, please do so. I am at your service.
That's definitely an option. I just don't like trading away a lot of draft picks, but for the right quarterback I do believe it's worth mortgaging the future.
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS ???????? ANY OLD FANS FROM 1969 WHO DECIDE TO STICK AROUND THIS MORONIC ORGANIZATION IF THE GM DOES NOT TRADE UP DOWN AND SIDEWAYS FOR ONE OF THESE KIDS ....ROSEN OR DARNOLD SHOULD HAVE HIS HEAD EXAMINED AS I HAVE POSTED BEFORE THE "FUTURE" THAT WE WOULD MORTGAGE TO DO A DEAL IS AN ABSOLUTE DREAM...HOW WILL MAYES AND ADAMS THROW A TOUCHDOWN???????????? YEAH BPA THATS REAL SMART COUSINS WILL COST A FORTUNE ( A DIFFERENT AND WORSE OPTION IMO ) ROSEN IS BRASH WITH HIS MOUTH JUST LIKE JOE WILLIE WAS!!!!!! PERFECT FIT TALENT AND OPPORTUNITY...ALL FOR A PRICE...SO WHAT???????? YOU KIDS ARE YOUNG I DONT HAVE 50 MORE YEARS TO WAIT NO FUTURE TO LOOK FORWARD TO WITHOUT YOUNG FQB.....CARPE DIEM
It’s easy as a fan & frankly as a team to talk the self out of trading or even just selecting a high octane QB bc the risk is immense & theres a sense of safety in standing pact w draft picks. And I’ve been guilty for it as much as anyone esp when I was younger.. But as the year’s pass & offseasons go by in which we pass on any sort of risk associated w taking a QB..it becomes more & more clear that every team needs to choose their spot & pounce when the opportunity is right; And right doesn’t necesarily mean a 5 Star QB magically falling into our lap at pick #20 or even having the right roster pieces already in place before pouncing. Its about fit & it’s about conviction.Lord knows the Jets arent stricken w luck where a 6th round QB is gonna become this invincible force. If the riddle is gonna be solved it’s gonna come from conviction & fortitude. That means either trading to a specific spot that unfortunately WILL have tangible compensation surrendered or perhaps even reaching at a given spot on one who might be a good fit by like any other prospect is no sure thing
Missed again. USC's injury-riddled DL was my prime caveat going into that game which turned out to be the case with ND steamrolling SC for 400 yards rushing. keep trying...
Plus 10 million What were people saying on this board last Spring " this QB class and OL sucks........2018 will be a much better year!" 2018 is here and people are spliting hairs over any college QB destined to be to be draftable Plus we have a HC.who thinks it's still the 1980s but a GM who I think understand s it's a passing league Tell me you are not absolutely sick of this sh*t?????????
I think you see the biggest skepticism from older jet fans that have seen just about every iteration of team building concepts they've come up with. Mostly with marginal results. I have serious doubts I see another Jet SB in my lifetime and so do many of my contemporaries on this board whereas the younger fans preach patience and slow but steady progress. Possibly this is because they have more "time" on their hands than we do. We older fans don't have another 20, 30, 40 years to wait for this team to come around. I think that's why you're starting to see more detachment from the Jets among older fans. I would only say that if by 2027, 2037, 2047 or 2057 The Jets haven't won a SB yet, take a good look at your positivism and willingness to wait around while the team continues to vacillate from bad to mediocre. I would bet a lot of you will start to sound like us oldtimers.
Josh has a cannon.. No doubt. He might have the moxie to play in the New York market too. We might be watching Eli's replacement tonite.
Well its the Jets. We did have a shot, but saving Bowles' job is more important in the short term. Besides, FQB's are overrated. Say hello to Tier 2 QB's if we're lucky since we'll be out of the running for any of the big 3. This used to bother me but not anymore. Just pray that McCown reverts to form and cuts his career year short.
How many upper tier Qb prospects have shit the bed? You realistically cant expect guys with a very limited pro window to lose for a future that they may never see We ll see what happens
